    Review for melatonin:

This title felt perfect for this mixtape. Thanks, it introduced me to a different genre of music I literally never would've listened to.

Lovely bloodflow - this was a pretty hypnotic tune, the voice was unique and enchanting. it had some cool breaking elements and the piano was an excellent touch. definitely gives me an ambient feeling.

Memories of love - i got the same sort of ambient vibe for this one, it put me into a bit of a trance. again i felt the voice was a really cool touch with a hypnotic tone. not much more to say it was chill and cool the whole way through.

Lamp mien - this track was probably my favourite in the mixtape. i really feel that this would be excellent for tone/mood setting in a movie, it has elements and sounds that make like 293847 different possible scenes pop into my head, all really awesome/fitting/relatable.

Late night - i'd have to say this one was my least favourite of the track, the voice didn't really capture much from me. it did have some cool, calm ambience to it, just the other 3 tracks definitely outshone it.

Overall this mixtape was really cool, and i wouldn't have ever listened to songs like this so thanks you~ however you might enjoy some of Egyptrixx's music if you liked these, just thought I should mention that haha.

    I give this mixtape a /cooooool~

I normally don't listen too much classical music but this piece was very moving, going through a range of emotions. I really enjoyed it but that's somewhat to expect from a song from a videogame with lots of emotional storytelling that I have fond memories of.

      Fighter X - Initiate:
Quite different genres in this mixtape. This song starts out a bit generic for a chiptune song but it makes up for that in the second half of the song as it has a pumping build up and a nice mellow outro.

      Clonepa - Le coeur noir:
Not what I had expected from Clonepa, as he usually does quite brutal breakcore. This one is pretty mellow though and enjoyable too. The melodies accompanied with some great piano are very diverse and pretty gloomy, all of which are distinguishable traits to clonepa's music, but a nice mellow acid bassline and light breaks are a cool change of pace in his discography.

      ITALIAN VIPPER - VIPstop:
I don't enjoy this song. The melodies sound too childish, messy and it sounds like very little time has been put into the track. The song sounds empty and emotionless. There's not a lot going on in the song except for percussion, a looped bassline and looped melodies with quite crappy instruments.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Overall:
Enjoyable mixtape overall but it didn't feel like it had any particular relation going on or anything between songs (which would've been cool). Sounded like they were picked at random. The clonepa and fighter x song were enjoyable but imo the only track worthy to bear the title of High Blissful Pleasure has to be Concert Paraphrase on ~Dearly Beloved. The song VIPstop really was a downgrade compared to the rest of the songs.
Thanks for the review tristan :3 and actually, I had considered the songs that I wanted to put in this mixtape. Though yes, VIPstop was rubbish, I really wanted the mixtape to have an assortment of different genres. And yes, I agree with you completely that Concert Paraphrase on ~Dearly Beloved deserves the title of High Blissful Pleasure. Welp, thanks for the feedback~

also this isn't my mixtape, just lurve aether
aether is some excellent, top-notch stuff; i still remember the eye-opening experience that was my first listen to artifacts. however, the wet-fog aethestic only really worked its b-movie low-rent charm the first few times, and then i began to have several problems with some of the tracks. there is a clear element of camp throughout the record that ruined my subsequent immersions unless i was in a specific mood.

it sounds like some meaningless bs, i know, but nowdays i usually end up playing blockhead's music by cavelight instead to achieve roughly the same effect cus i get annoyed with the former sometimes. both works are very distinguished, shining examples of the genre, though -- outside of my personal preference i'd have an extremely hard time choosing one over the other in terms of quality.

also who mixed low-fi oddities????? i cant even put into words how much i loved every single moment of every song on there, give me more please

          Yep, I'm melatonin.

I'm very happy about the range of genres these mixtapes cover. Seriously, if you're looking for something new within your favorite genre or something completely different, check these out.

It feels like people picked some of the strongest tracks that they know of in their respective genres (Bulb for technical metal, Eluvium for ambient, Nas for hip-hop, etc).

ps if you want the 2.5k bounty, finish your review by Friday !!

Okay as a note before I start here, I'm not the best at getting across what makes me like a song, partially cause I don't so much understand it myself, so you know these reviews might not make much sense. But I signed up cause I wanted to try, so try I shall. Anyways here we go!

Whoa okay just finished and I wrote a ton, I'm sorry. Skip to the overall if you don't want to be worded to death >.<

              UNREAL FKN CHOONS

              Unicron Barbeque by XACKSECKS
I really liked this one, usually there's a contrast between how slow and sort of light and airy the chorus is and how fast the music is in speedcore so that when the chorus comes in it kind of takes an entirely different feel in a way which I like a lot, though this one really accentuates it by going all kinds of crazy in whatever isn't the chorus going almost metalish at times. Really cool, will listen to again

I hope that was speedcore btw, I don't know my genres at all >.<

PISS ME A RIVER JESUS (HOLY SHHITT) by KODEK
Okay so first off, have to start out by saying this is not my kind of music. I don't like it when I really don't have a grasp on what the song is and it kind of ends up going all over the place, I sort of want the song to take me on a progression through it in all cases, like it taking me on a journey I guess if that makes any sense. I tried listening to the song a bunch but I kinda ended up getting lost in where I was every time. I could get used to it but just not as I'm writing this review I guess, sorry.

As for the music, I actually liked a lot of it (though definitely not some of it) and I really liked the concept of the song where it almost seemed like it was channel flipping, and then being like fast-forwarded to crazy a lot for fun. I just wish it had some kind of overarching feel to it so I could have a grasp on it I guess

              Wow that was long, sorry.

You Turn Me Into a Drooling Psycho by LOLI RIPE

Hey butterfly, I love this song (well of course I do were on a site modeled after DDR haha). This one was definetly more up my alley, love the really fast drum n bass beat that's actually kind of changing around to accentuate the music and really love the vocals. Also the change in vocal melodies was cool, and it flowed into that change really well, but the part I really really liked was the end instrumental orchestral part with the beat still going, that was so cool. Will listen again

Oh btw there was a hardcore version of this in ddr I believe, this sounds close to it, is this a remix of that or something?

              Sonar Fields by The Flashbulb
Wow haha. I'm gonna be honest, I know this is just meant to be the 1:28 second outro to your mixtape (and so cool that you included it like that) but this was by far my favorite song. It reminds me of the kind of thing I liked in NES music back in the day, like in Rainbow Resort in kirby's adventure, which is just this floating through space kind of feel to the song. This one though takes that feeling and turns it into a chiptune version that's got a beat that really gels well with the rest of your mixtape. Loved it, will listen a lot

              Overall
Okay so I was really impressed with this one, you clearly put a lot of time into it. The transitions were great, every song flowed into the next, the first song works great as the opener and you even included an outro, the first time I listened I forgot I wasn't just listening to a CD. The music quality was also (except for one) great, and was clearly some of the best in there genre (at least I know loli ripe is, or I think he is). So thanks for all the speedcore/hardcore/whatever it's called music, I don't have enough of this and sometimes I really wish I had more, and now I have a lot to work off of to get some . Glad I did this mixtape thing so far.

                Rameses B Medley

                Memoirs (Sizzlebird Remix)
Song picks up fairly slow in my opinion, when it actually picks up the pace it gets pretty nice to listen to, though it gets fairly repetitive. The song isn't too bad but don't know if I would listen to it regularly though. The last 45 seconds or so are probably the best parts of the song.

                Visionary
First half of the song isn't too bad. The break (?) is pretty awesome but the second half doesn't really appeal to me that much since most of the song is already there in the first half haha. Not bad of a song, but like the first song I don't know if I would listen to it regularly.

                Goddess
Very nice beat/melody overall, but like the other two songs, it's pretty repetitive.

                Starscapes (Rameses B Remix)
The beginning is pretty good, I probably like this song the most out of the 4 that you put into this haha. Really good song.

Overall? Good stuff. Just not really my taste though.

                      12. 4 Songs of Furious Frustration

I think I got unlucky here as there is nothing in this mixtape that I like.

Weekend Nachos - Priorities (1:30) - Sounds like a typical grindcore song, but is nothing of the likes of Nasum for example. I can't get into the groove of this song, and there's nothing interesting about it really.

Lack of Interest - Wasted Effort (1:15) - Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh! Only after you listen to this song you'll understand this review.

Triac - Grab Everything That Kills (1:30) - This is probably the most interesting of the 4 songs in the sense that I could actually see this become a stepmania simfile. Some slowdowns near the end, but not something I would listen to on a consistent basis, which is kind of what I was hoping for in at least one track in a mixtape.

Coke Bust - **** Bar Culture (0:48) - First 30 seconds of this song is an intro. lol this song has the feel of a group of drunk guys went to a bar and decided they'd sing karaoke with the instruments that they had brought with them, but didn't do a great job on it.

Overall: For mixtape guidelines that allow 4 songs totalling 20 minutes, I hardly think a mixtape totalling 5:03 is to be taken very seriously. This will be the last time I listen to the songs in this mixtape.

lol did Carlos download the mixtape I had to review by accident?... I'm Mega Genesis and I thought I counted it right, wut.

                        My Own Two Sense

Contact - I find the idea interesting that there's a guy singing the melody calmly in the background while another one just yells like an endless lion at times. This is good metal, but hearing that guy's poor throat also makes my stomach turn upside down. I liked 2:14 and the fact it almost never repeats!

Introdiction (I thought there was a typo lol) - Good lyrics and sounds good, I overall liked the way it climbed up! The accent was thick, but also made it good.

The Great Gig In The Sky - Needs no introduction, if I hadn't got to listen to Pink Floyd's work for the first time about a year ago, I would've jizzed listening to this. This is still an incredible sound each time I hear it. 1:07 gets me every time. I feel like I'm having such a good time flying through the landscapes of my imagination while listening to this that it might hurt me in some way. Good song.

Transitions - Holy shit, from Pink Floyd to this, lol just let me lower the volume~. The track is pretty aggressive, but also pretty good. Less my taste, again with the screamo style of voices, but it's very good in its own right.

This was a nice rock mixtape, managed to grab the best of every genre, it seems!! Thanks to the sender.

And the little tune breakup bits are one of my favourite things in songs - that this had so many of those was a definite plus. A keeper for sure - this is my favourite song of the four.

                          Life Goes On

Kkrusty! Seems a bit different in style than his usual stuff. Actually I have to say I prefer some of his other stuff more - Level Skip for eg, but this is still
pretty decent Kkrusty. And that's already better than most songs of this kind of genre out there. (This particular piece reminds me a lot of Doormouse btw)

                          How The West Was Born

Whoa this is a change in pace! I have never played C/C, but this just might get me to :3 Seriously, it really has that epic feel to it, fit to play as the credits start to roll on a Transformers movie or something. (It's actually better than most of the OST to those movies anyway.)

As with The Luna Sequence, I'm definitely gonna look up more of this artist's stuff.

                          Air War

Meh this probably just isn't my type of song - I can't really stand the little kid vocals lmao

                          Overall

I really enjoyed this haha. Thanks for the mixtape and introducing me to these artists; def a refreshing listen~

I swear I didn't know that Thinking Different was a SGX song, until I looked it up lmao.

Thanks for the review man, glad to know that someone else from SG has similar music tastes as I do haha.
