Button mashing, skill or no skill?

I honestly do not believe button mashing is a skill. It may "work" for people, but it requires no skills except very, very broad timing ability. That's about all I have to say.

I hate it when my cousin or my dad or my friends say "Omg button mashing!!" When I'm playing the stream on GoGoPowerRangers or something. It's not button mashing. It's semi-button mashing. Because I'll see only half of the steps and press them auto but the rest of the steps I don't see I'll mash...

I can get through EVERY song on FFR. EVERY single one.

I hate those gay poké/digifag adoptables.

Play Stepmania. You can't mash that, or atleast not well. If you can do an oni song (Identity Part 2 XD) well, then you're good.

Mashing is no skill, if you wanna see if you are good, try playing Stepmania.

Well, since I came across the thread, why not post, eh?

Being a one handed player(and a damn good one at that, if you ask me.) I believe there is a certain requirement of mashing in certain parts of a song. Take for example... Force of Light. There are certain parts in there that require I button mash, simply because I can't keep up with them one handed. From time to time I combo through the little jump of jackhammering beats, but more of than not, I don't, and I break my combos.

Then again being a one handed player comes with all kinds of complications, but oh well. I'll find my way around them. >.>

Actually, I believe if a bit of practice is allowed, this is entirely possible.

Because I just button mashed it the normal way and took the time to watch a couple of seconds of TV.

Re: Button mashing, skill or no skill?

in ffr, i think on some songs you really have to
i mean myself...well im not good enough to play those songs yet
but i kno how fast those arrows can go

but in other games...if you buttons mash, you suck
i used to do that playing mortal kombat when i was really young

and i agree with you, double posting like that = no skill

Button mashing walls of arrows doesn't take skill, that's just pounding quads as fast as you can.

Songs with some sort of rhythm, maybe a very fast stream or a 200 BPM jumpstream, take some level of skill. You have to be able to know where most of the arrows are grouped together, and mash in a certain area. Disregard is a good example I can think of.

I don't think any songs need to be button mashed, If you use the right screen shrink you will be able to read the arrows easily, Works for me each time.

There aren't any songs that have to be mashed. Some songs are just too fast for most people to read.

I can read some stuff fine on SM but my hands are unable to keep up. Btw even the hardest sims on FFR are actually considered easy on SM but r1 is limited because of jack syndrom/fps/no speed mods so reading comes into play more than actual physical ability of being fast enough. Take for example, I can FC lawn wake without a sweat on SM and do horribly on ffr lawn wake. FC FOTBB without a problem on sm and look like a noob on ffr(same exact steps btw).

also: I mashed parts of OMW and GGC for my high scores on those two songs

Hm....i guess it kinda depends doesn't it? Maybe if it were accurate i'd be somewhat ok, but if you're just hitting some random buttons, then no.
