Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I forgot to put my name on one of my files - should I resend it and put my name on it (which would replace the other)? I hope so - it's the best file out of the ones I'm sending, and I'd hate for it to not be judged because of a simple mistake.

EDIT: Looks like I sent them as an .sm file - wasn't paying attention. Do I resend, or what?Last edited by Bynary Fission; 12-5-2008, 04:56 PM.Newest Track (12/26/2025): Battle Theme - The Celestial Caverns [8-bit Chiptune]

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Yeah but you've got to let them sit for a few days and then go back to it and you'll catch all the stuff you inevitably screwed up/won't like in retrospect.Comment

bynary: nah, i added your name... i don't ignore submissions without a username in the folder name. but i don't particularly like having to add the names in. and you'll usually get an email back from me telling you not to do it again.
patashu: thanks for the email spam. feel free to send them all in 1 email (or even 1 zip/rar) in the future. less stuff i have to click on and download, the faster and easier it is.
edit: Bynary, do you have permission from the performers for Les Toreadors? the music is public domain, but unless the recording is from pre-1923, then it is not.RIPComment

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Yes. George Bizet, the composer, died in 1875, meaning his music is PD. However, if you're referring to where I got the mp3, the music was taken from a 1994 CD of classical music, and I converted it to an .mp3. Sorry if it turns out it isn't PD - it's rather confusing to determine what's usable, since a few restrictions seem to go beyond the pre-1923 limit.
Also, I accidentally put in .sm files while I wasn't paying attention. Will that be an issue (I assume so - I'll resend if needed).

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
As I said... the music is public domain... meaning anyone can play it or sell it or whatnot without permission / licensing. But you still need permission from the people who played it, because the performance is copyrighted to them... even if the music itself is public domain.
Since you do not have permission from the producers / label / whoever from the '94 CD, then you can't use it for FFR. Sorry.
edit: for getting permission for the song... your best bet is to find a MIDI of it and get permission from the MIDI creator. a site like Classical Archive is a great resource for that.RIPComment
