My missing files aren't a big deal as long as they get folded into the next batch. If you need, I'd be glad to send them again. Just let me know.
Even if you're okay with it, to me it still feels unfair to have to make you wait even longer. Hmmm...
So for the six skipped files, how about this: If you've worked on the file since you sent it last you can send in fixes before the July-August batch judgment starts. Rather than have us look at the file now, you can wait a few more weeks and have an improved version looked at. (Only one other judge has sent in notes for any of the skipped files, and he wouldn't mind. And another one who offered had to drop.) I think that'll make it a bit more fair.
... I really can't say when judging for the July-August batch will start though, because it depends on judges being available and signing up. But do try to get in fixes as soon as possible ... but also don't rush too much, because rushing never helps. I don't think it will be starting thaat soon.
Just a reminder that this only applies to Synchronized Hearts; Rape; One for All, All For One; Revenge of Mister Foxsky; They Kidnapped the Princess; and Nightfall (Original Mix).
Oh! And I was thinking I should rework the Resubmission rule a bit, because one week just doesn't feel like much time. Resubmission privilege on a file will last for one month. You can send it in any time in that month without it counting toward your cap, even if that time is in two different judgment periods. If you send your Resubmission in during a time when a closed batch still hasn't begun judgment yet, then your Resubmission will be allowed into that batch. The window for this will be smaller, though, and it won't always be the same.
Hello (DarkZtar)
109.37s: The percussion does a short 32nd thing here.
109.59s: The disc scratch is two 32nds, on the 16th and 32nd. With that 8th after it to the percussion, three notes might feel like too much on 1.0x, so it would be okay to fudge it a bit, like by just putting a 12th there. (The 24th you had is incorrect, though.)
Palace of Destruction (DarkZtar)
32.87-33.55s: Incorrect and missing rhythms. These three beats should all be xxx.x. in 24ths.
57.79s: Missing percussion around here, noted by three judges.
165.34-165.85s: More missing percussion.
210.28s: Missing drum 16th.
Those spots of missing percussion were all noted by three judges, and there were some others noted by two.
Should hopefully be able to get to these by the end of this week. My laptop is currently at home and I recently switched from using that laptop to my desktop to step stuff and both of these happen to be among the files that I still haven't moved to the desktop.
Also debating on overhauling my children's war file and submitting to the batch.
- Sent Fixes for Cowbell Rock
- Sent in One For All, All For One (since missed last time as a resub)
- Sent in The Revenge of Mister Foxsky (since missed last time as a resub)
- Sent in Maelstrom (As a normal resub)
- 50.61: This feels like copy-paste (19.00 and 64.72 for instance are the same exact pattern and so forth).
Just fyi, there is only one repetition of the chorus in the song. I know I often point out to steppers to vary things up, but it is not wrong to repeat things once or every once in a while; it lends itself to good structure and symmetry.
Let's not mistake occasional repetitions as a negative attribute.
-----------
Highway Highway DESTINY (bmah) - 7/10
3.300s - Ghost note
5.859s, 7.288s, etc. - I don't really think omitting this bass guitar note is a good idea. It seems pretty lacking. This ends up totalling to a lot of notes throughout the chart.
86.306s - Weird anchors in this part, they don't seem to be going to anything.
3.300s: This was actually a misrhythm that all judges seem to have pointed out as a ghost note. Fixed.
5.849s,etc.: Will have to agree. Fixed.
86.306s: the repeated 8ths go to the repeating bass.
Highway Highway DESTINY
[7/10]
02:05.70
Steps: 874
Jumps: 356
Hands: 43
Notes:
- 3.32, 120.46: The 48th is a ghost note. This forces a minijack with the 16th jump too.
- 20.61, 24.18, 69.90: Why are these jumps? (Note 58.47 was not stepped as a jump for reference, there's just that part of the melody being stepped)
- 48.65: The jumps layering in the snares in this section make sense, but there are other jumps in this dense jumpstream that aren't clear
- 50.61: This feels like copy-paste (19.00 and 64.72 for instance are the same exact pattern and so forth).
- 83.65: For the sake of not making the file very choppy to play this jump should be removed for the burst
- While the layering looks sound for the most part, some parts need special attention (3.32, 83.65, and 120.46 specifically) because they're sudden fast bursts that give a Paranormal Activity effect. Some layering can be sacrificed if it's getting in the way of playability.
- Side note: This file will require frame fixes for the 48th sections. I can foresee them being disgusting in conversion.
- Fixed the beginning and end bursts; they're not 48ths at all actually. Should also remove the jack caused by the bursts.
- 20.61s,etc.: You actually did catch an unwarranted jump at 20.61s. For the others, the jumps are for the main melody which, on the second time around in a given chorus, are now chords as you can hear.
- 48.65s: Basically the result of the 16th synths that only appear during this section, plus the drums as per usual.
- 83.65s: Yeah I see what you mean, with the tight burst creating a small jack. This one I've decided to leave however.
@Silvuh (because his notes are too long ):
- The bass steps I've made consistent as per ilikexd's notes. However, I've let the majority of the bass for the chorus sections to have some minijacks for interest, and I think it works too. If all of the bass notes had the minijacks removed, then it'd be pretty bland, because another section of the song highlights the exact same sort of patterns. Just letting you know my justification to some inconsistency of bass patterns.
- 2.82s: And then on the other hand, I'm going to keep this as a hand so I can REMAIN consistent.
- 5.50,5.68s,etc.: See my first note.
- I think I've covered most of the rest of the notes from the previous judges' suggestions.
I basically took 90% of what was mentioned for johnny c. bad.
The color theory wasnt even meant to be, I butt-sync'd it and it turned out having colors for specific instruments.
Im planning on holding on sending the fixed version and reverting this back into a regular submission.
Reason is because Im planning on making a longer cut.
I've had a WIP for Johnny C. Bad sitting in my folder for 7 years.
Never had enough submission slots to send it in rofl
If you want me to, I can send you the file and you can use it for inspiration or something idgaf I just like the song so I would want the file for it to be good.
