That comment is hilarious - I've seen pretty much everyone get it at my school haha. I even remember someone failing a class but also getting it.

Nice grades by the way. The bully incident was unfortunate though.
I've learned to deal with the incident and put it past me. My mom thought that I was wasting my time trying to get my education after screwing up once, but she backed off pretty quickly when she found out that I had straight As. Thanks for the compliment.

I'm currently taking Geometry and Biology, and I'm going to add Psychology and English II once I hit my midterms for my first two classes. The only reason I didn't take on four classes immediately is because of our newborn daughter. She's really calming down though, so I probably can add on the classes without too much of an issue.

        B in calculus !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know how I pulled that off, but there's a long ass story behind why I thought I was gonna get an F- in that class.

I hate trying at school, I always end up with B's and C's. I have rarely ever gotten A's in my history of slacking off.

I'd be proud of an A. Good job varley.

                Re: My first A

My best semester in undergrad was in last year; 4 A+s and 1 A, which is 4.24/4.3 on the scale we use, or 3.98/4.0. I graduated with a cumulative of 3.82/4.3 (~3.72/4.0).

This is because I didn't do so hot first year D: Probably because I didn't go to class...lol. I remember thinking about how hard it was to get an A/A+...! However, I found once I started getting them, I improved successively each year.

So congrats on getting one. You'll probably be able to get more now. I found it mostly involved: 1. Going to every class, 2. Learning to study early and properly for exams 3. Learning to anticipate the types of Qs that would show up on exams.

All of these things were either harder to do and or more complicated than in high school, so it was a bit of a shock at first. It was so easy to graduate with a 4.0/4.0 in HS that I was a bit overconfident going in >_>

There are so many classes I didn't go to when I was in college, lmfao. But this is also partly because I had so many classes that some of them either literally overlapped or were really inconvenient. Or I just cbf.

                    Re: My first A

It is becoming tougher and tougher to consistently get good grades. I got my second B this semester (6th semester) :/
I should either stop procrastinating or stop caring about grades too much

It depends on what you want to apply to.

If you're seriously interested in medicine, dentistry, law, or high end masters/ph.d graduate programs, GPA matters. It matters more than anything else, in some cases.

If you're not interested in any of these things, it probably doesn't matter at all.

Yeah but he's got two B's going into his sixth semester. I'm saying that he's going to be fine, even for programs that call for high GPA's.

Even if you're going for, say, a top law program, you really just need a 3.7+ GPA and 170+ LSAT to be competitive, etc. He'd have to **** up hard to kill any viable opportunities for himself.

Almost everyone that I know who had similar stats to leonid wound up faring just fine in the end, even if they slacked off a bit towards the end (myself included).

I managed to miss my MS Office final and still came out with a B-, raising my total GPA to 2.04.

The weird thing is, the best semester I've done out of my 3 years at college was my first semester. I was such a failure in highschool that I was pretty determined to do well. After that I got more and more lax and started falling out of the A-B range into the B-C range.
