    A question for everyone

For the last couple of months i have been asking myself this with no definite answer. ive probably thought about this way to much though and thats probably the reason for the lack of an answer. now i want to read what everyone else has to say.

how long do you plan on playing ffr/stepmania?

how long to you plan on stepping files for ffr/stepmania?

how long do you plan on being a part of the rhythm game community on the internet and if applicable in real life?

considering the time we're living in where everything is becomes easier to access wirelessly its become easier and easier to maintain contact with people online and on the forums. so i would imagine that some people will still be here into their late 20's but what about after that? do you see yourself still posting and playing while not as much 10-15 years from now?

      Re: A question for everyone

I have a funny feeling that my daughter playing the drums and having a natural rhythm will end up playing this game after seeing me play it over the years. And much like my peers on here, she'll probably surpass me in skill in no time. So, yeah, I think i'll be here for a fair while, most likely trying to sup my daughter.

How long do you plan on playing ffr/stepmania? Probably after i graduate from pharmacy school and get a professional job so probably for another 4-5 years. (Really, it just depends what comes up for me in the future. Then again, i don't really play FFR or Stepmania as much as i used to)

How long to you plan on stepping files for ffr/stepmania? Same case as above

How long do you plan on being a part of the rhythm game community on the Internet and if applicable in real life? Probably for a long time, i honestly enjoy rhythm game communities and i don't see myself giving up on that for a while unless if it died all together.

          Re: A question for everyone

Yes to all, but I'm actually a bit iffy about about the third question.

I grew up with stepmania, even though I only started the serious playing back in march 2008 (of course I did some FFR dating back to 2005 but it wasn't much). It was a pretty big turning point in my life considering it changed how I view songs, period. More than a game, it also valued effort over being successful all the time. Although my scores may not be recognized as much as the packs that are usually played, I like how I can be different and go a different road in the game and do files/rates that aren't so concerned about accuracy (in fact, better accuracy is guaranteed in some cases if you can hit the file). Basically, you'll have a LOT of failures in stepmania (and FFR lol), and learning how to deal with them also helped me with school affairs. Failure was really devastating to me until I played stepmania.

So yes, I definitely plan on stepping/playing ffr and stepmania and not quitting. I've actually slowed down on playing since I don't have that many opportunities now; I just play whenever I feel like it. The thing about stepmania is that anyone can add to the game. What I'm saying here is that games such as MMORPG's and such can only be modified by a certain group of persons with the required position to do so, but stepmania can be accessed/changed by anyone. I mean, look at all the themes out there! Even SM-SSC!

This site, KBO, and Dragonsfury are the main sites I go to. I definitely see myself posting here even 10 years from now, even if it may not be as frequent. Most of the guys I talk to on AIM are from this site, and I can say that I trust them more than basically any other acquiantance ("friends" in school, etc.).

I respect anyone's decision about leaving the game/site if they want, though. Or not doing fast rates/abstract files (overstepped "dumps").

            Re: A question for everyone

how long do you plan on playing ffr/stepmania? Well, I've already passed my peak time of playing the games, but that's not to say I won't continue to play everynow and then. Time permitting, I may slip in a game or two.

how long to you plan on stepping files for ffr/stepmania? Well, all depends on my mood. I've always had a goal to get a stepfile into FFR though. With Badinerie in the queue that could be anytime this year though. I'll step when something inspires me and I have the time I suppose.

how long do you plan on being a part of the rhythm game community on the internet and if applicable in real life? Connections are what get you far in life. You never know what people here will turn out to be in 5-10 years, so i'm going to try my best to keep in touch with friends and contacts that I have on here. As for being a part of the rhythm game community, posts of mine will always be found throughout the forums, albeit in scarcer quantities these days.

Let's face it: I'M BAD. I just play casually now and at 2.36bil points, it'll probably be a while before I hit veteran status. I'll probably continue to keep playing though, just for the sake of when I meet new people...

I have made two files, both when I was 15, both absolutely horrible. I'm actually working on a third, and now that I actually have half a clue what I'm doing, it could be pretty decent (if I ever get around to finishing it). I have this one I'm working on and another I'd like to step after that. Once those are done... we'll see...

BTW, the ones I made when I was 15, I basically just put arrows in random places. Some of the ones I didn't finish had random hands just out of nowhere.

FFR is the only rhythm game site I'm active on, and that's probably not going to change. However, I'm enlisting in the military so everything past 2011 is looking hazy. I can't answer this question with any guarantees.

I plan on playing until I just can't.

If I have any children I will also show them FFR/SM and hope that they continue the legacy :')

FFR is a huge part of my life, it's been through all of my teenage years so far, so I don't plan on quitting soon.

I want to stay on FFR until the site goes down again. I don't think I'll ever willing leave FFR's community. IRL, do you mean meet ups?

This thread is basically saying, "write your waiver and sign here".

No one knows what the future will hold. You could plan to quit in two years, but a lot of shit can happen, like the unexpected 6 month shutdown of our beloved website.

                      This is pointless sorry.

                        True story:

When I was in middle school, my oldest brother was in a DDR club in my high school. I came in 2nd place in an away DDR tournament when I was in 6th grade I think, or was it 7th? (LOL) and I was with high schoolers, it was pretty funny. I lost on max 300 (the other guy got a B, I got a C). I was 11 or 12 around the time.

                        Good times

Obviously real life is going to take precedence over online keyboardsmashing. Anything like jobs, school, or friends can easily take away from available time. However, the people I meet on here seem to be infinitely more awesome than most people I know.

Which is interesting...because now I just enjoy being a part of the community, a lot of you have become friends, so just leaving behind the site would actually be leaving behind so much more than that.
