k so I have to take a foreign language. In high school I took Spanish 1 and 2 but I couldn't remember any of it so I still placed in the beginner's course. So, should I take Spanish or French or wait until next year (since beginning classes aren't offered spring semester) to try German or something more exotic?

Re: Which Foreign Language Should I Take?
Well, Spanish seems most likely to be useful in today's society of the western hemisphere. However, French is linguistically more romantic and fluent in economically flourishing eastern countries. German is always an interesting language to learn. I hear more positive feedback from German students than any other. Personally, I would chose either French or German. My school offered Latin up until the year when I entered, which aggravated me.

Re: Which Foreign Language Should I Take?
I recommend taking whichever you would feel you could get the best grade in. In all honesty, taking just this one class won't help you as far as understanding and becoming fluent in a language, so take whichever sounds cooler or whichever you think is easier.Comment

Re: Which Foreign Language Should I Take?
I'm going to end up taking the language for 4 semesters if that makes any difference... as an English major I'm going to have to take up through Intermediate 2.Comment

Take French or German seeing as you couldn't remember any of your Spanish.
Look them up online and see which one looks easier/funner.Comment

Re: Which Foreign Language Should I Take?
All four languages mentioned thus far derive from Latin. So, based on your logic they're all the easiest to learn.

Re: Which Foreign Language Should I Take?
im pretty sure dore isn't fluent in Latin. im pretty sure he is fluent in english. so when i say german is mostly derived from english, that means it will be the easiest to learn because he has knowledge of the english language.
if a different language is simply derived from latin and dore has absolutely no knowledge of latin, it will be harder to learn because he has no prior knowledge of the derived language to help him
at least thats my reasoningComment
