XP, because any mac i've used just didn't work out too well for me, only had one experience with linux(not long enough to matter at all), and i just don't like the way vista does things. i've never had issues with xp at all, only time my computer ever stopped functioning was because of the motherboard.
If you want a system purely for specs, then Windows would be the one for you. You can go and find a Mac with the same specs as a Windows and the Mac would probably be around 500 dollars more expensive.
If you want to be a person who is involved in multimedia (movies, pictures, music, etc) then buy a Mac.
If you want a computer that can handle most aspects of computing adequately or highly efficiently (office, school, gaming, etc) then buy a PC.
Windows will always be better than mac program wise because we can basically download anything and run it for free. *wink* While mac needs a bunch of crap done to the program to make it work.
Still loving my XP.
Might get a new one soon, though.
Oh crap, they just put a rebate on it?! Getgetgetgetget :O http://tinyurl.com/3ldj28
Could still be a lot cheaper if you bought the parts then just assembled them yourself. Probably going to full out switch to Linux as soon as I can get it working the way I want it too.
I have Vista. I don't like or want Vista, but all of the other things I have used suck even worse. When a decent program comes out, contact me.
XP does just fine. Try it. I recommend getting a Vaio computer and XP. I have those, and I love the combination.
I'm kinda caught between Microsoft (XP) and Mac (OSX Leopard). I own a PC, but I've used my friend's Mac. I love the features on a Mac, but I love the performance of PC. (Like said above, I own a Vaio with XP.)
I once had XP Media Center Edition, Vista Business Edition I think (got for free from college, but I don't go there anymore), and every version of Ubuntu since Edgy Eft on this laptop. I later removed Vista from my computer, but it's still shown in the boot loader. I still have XP Media Center Edition and Ubuntu Hardy Heron. I use XP the most though. My dad has a fairly new mac that he does all of his music stuff on, and I sometimes, but rarely get on it. *edit: I forgot that I also have a mac OS with my ipod touch* There're old macs and pc's at our house that are not used anymore. My "other" OS is my graphing calculater OS (it's a TI84 SE). There's probably other things that I have with OS's, but I don't run them anymore.
Windows XP. Just got my new laptop today. It's ****ing awesome. It has XP installed and Vista in the box (which i will probably never download unless i really really want to use my other gb of RAM).
