It's not appropriate material for CT, so please don't reply to the thread flaming him. Don't flame him at all, actually, as we don't want to bash members.

But I find everything he just posted, and most of what coberst ever posts, absolute utter nonsense. He uses big words for the sake of using big words and makes things sound pretty and they mean nothing at all. He goes against a fundamental principle of everything: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

In this post he isn't keeping it simple. He has no interest in keeping it stupid. He's interested in sounding like he's got a PhD or something. Though he'd never pass as one. It's all utter nonsense.

I don't mean to flame him, but posts like that piss me off. It really seriously bothers me that anybody considers that pile of bunk to be worthwhile to seriously respond to. "Disinterested knowledge is the energy bunny." That means NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL. What the ****? This bothers me. If this were my site I'd ban him for posting such pretentious, wordy, needless, nonsensical drivel.



I just feel that this needs to be said, and I hope someone else agrees with me, so that I don't feel quite so alone and crazy in knowing better than to fall for the fancy words.

From the responses he makes to the replies on his threads, he'd have to be a very intelligent bot.

From what I understand, he's simply a guy who thinks his mini-essays are brilliant and posts them on all sorts of forums trying to get feedback from others.

I'm pretty sure he's a bot since more than a few times he has responded to threads with things that have nothing to do with the thread posted in, yet at the same time responds EXACTLY THE SAME in another one of his threads where it DOES make sense (or rather, is relevant to the discussion).

He bothered me a lot with his original postings from way back when, and now he seems to have come back and he's bothering me again. But everyone's so quiet about it. I don't know if it's because CT is a seldom-trafficked section, or because I'm crazy or the only one who can see through the bull****. I mean, he's got to be one of the most irritating posters to me on FFR right now. Actually he might possibly be the most irritating poster ever on FFR. Actually, tkoy probably tops him as most irritating.

So you mean you're angry because you don't understand his point? Or are you mad that he has creative way of explaining his point?

Yeah, it means nothing if you don't read when he explains the metaphor.

That whole post made a lot of sense to me, even though it's not really a CT topic because there isn't much to discuss. I agree with you about most of his posts, but you picked a really bad example.

Coberst probably wouldn't understand a bolded name. He'll think it's just a point in your argument.

By the way, if he were to write properly using all those big words, it'd be fine, but he doesn't. It's very difficult to understand him because he's using some of these big words awkwardly. It's not because Chrissi is stupid, she isn't.

Having done some Googling and reading a lot of his responses on the same articles under different names, yes, he's definitely a bot. Away with him, say I.

Also, no, Dragula, most of his little articles are completely meaningless. There is no thought whatsoever put into them, and his responses are all carbon-copy. It's probably a very well put-together bot.

1) Chrissi isn't being pretentious or wordy. Every single one of her words has an iron meaning, which is nothing like the way coberst writes.

2) All of those adjectives applied, have separate meanings, and are relevant to her argument.

3) Coberst is probably a bot, which are banned. He detracts from the setting of Critical Thinking and makes it seem like an environment where people use prissy talk to make points that don't make any sense.

You misread the tone of my post. And never did I say anywhere that she was stupid, nor do I believe that. I was just saying that in the example she gave, he made a valid point in what he was saying.

If he is a bot (which I guess he has to be, because there really isn't anyone who doesn't know the Square Root of 16 that can type coherently) I want to meet the guy who made it.
