Personally, I am not a content creator (other tahn simfiles lololol) and I don't know the guy running the site at all, so more or less, I don't care, and really, what pisses me off is how everybody does so much.

PS: I use ebaums all the time, and find it to be a very useful website. And I know they didn't make a thing on that website.

Also, if I came off as saying that Ebaums world is a fine website, and they don't deserve to be in any trouble, I didn't mean that.

I mean, talking about stealing like this, when some of you guys do it, and many other website do it, then acting like it's the worst thing in the world is wrong.

You walk into a bookstore (or library, since Ebaums world doesn't charge) to look for books. They have all the books you want, but instead of having the proper author on the cover, they all say "Eric Bauman" and have him listed as creating all of them. Now, you know that it isn't right, and that the right people should be getting credit for their hard work.

It's just as easy as not going to that library. It's wrong; not only because it's "stealing" (which you seem to think is the worst thing in the whole wide world) but because he's making a profit off of other people's hard work while they get nothing. They don't even get the brief e-noteriaty that they're entitled to, because Eric Baum is an asshole.

You can say this post is all saving face, or whatever the hell you want, but I'm really this blind that i just noticed this.

First of all, I do make horrible examples. I hardly know what i meant to say myself. I know I worded everything horribly, and i used bad analogies.

I dug myself into a huge hole, because I was talking about retarded things, and talking about a group of peolpe that barely exists, and acting like it was the whole internet.

I don't know exactly what it is that pisses of you guys off. When I acknowledge one point, you guys seem to switch to another point, like if I talk about hte money, suddenly the huge deal is the watermarks, and vice versa. Or the refusals to take it off, either works.

I didn't mean to defend ebaumsworld, because they do deserve to go down, just this guy is wasting his time, because they won't. What i meant to say, is that this tiny group of people, who does steal just like this, many of them are all ebaums haters too. Thats sickening.

I know websites that have huge amounts of flashgames on them, without any credit to teh original authors. In fact, they have a credits page, which links to ebaums world.

I'm retarded, you all hate me, I put my points out really badly, I understand this.

Hate me however much you want though, this isn't the only time this will happen.

I do hate it because it robs several talented flash artists' work and does not credit them appropriately.

We also do not make thousands upon thousands of dollars a month from it.

So let me get this straight.

EBaum is getting sued because Alan, some random 17 year old 1-year-experienced flash artist, didn't give him permission to post his file his website, yet he specifically allowed three (3) certain websites to post his animation. At least Ebaum didn't take away the Copyright Alan Becker on the animation itself, thus giving credit to the kid. But, he is using his animation to make money when he wasn't even allowed to post it in the first place?

Alan and Ebaum are both at fault. First off, it's the internet, basically the fastest portal of communication out there, next to yelling across the street. Alan should have known that by posting something on the internet, it was going to spread out varily, and quickly. If he didn't want certain websites using his material, then he shouldn't have posted it in the first place. Sure, you want to share your creation with people because you're proud of your work, but you need to realize that the internet is a no-holds-barred place, and material gets stolen day by day. Alan is just one of the few people to actually do something about it because he cares. Will he win? probably not. Ebaum is at fault too for constantly stealing material from other websites and putting his own "Ebaumsworld" label on it, technically claiming the file as his. It's a good case, and I would love to see a 17 year old win it, but i doubt it's going to happen.

Benny, your argument is an ad hominen attack that ignores the actual issue being discussed, and as such is completely worthless. Please come back when you have something worthwhile to add.

Anyway, as much as I would like to see ebaum's go down, I have a hard time believing it will happen. Ebaum guy can afford to get a very good lawyer(s), and this 14 year old kid cannot. Copyrights are rather complex things that I doubt either this kid of the ebaums dude fully understands, so the quality of the lawyer is going to make a big impact in this case. However, I don't have much of a problem with this, since it is just economics (my major, btw) at work. Ebaum's time will come some day, when he targets a kid from a family that contains a proficient lawyer, but I don't think that time is now.
