    Yeah. Awesome.

Anyway, this solves ALL your problems. Give it a view; it's only about a minute long. This explains the aspect ratios and black bars and such.

Three Musketeers movie with the Eyepatch guy 0WNED. I'm the only one who remembers that movie in my English class. And I'm also really glad you liked Outlaw Star.

Widescreen format on a fullscreen tv is what bothers me, but upstairs on our huge widescreen 70" tv widescreen is awesome.... Widescreen is superior....

There really is no aregument here, just a bunch of people that keep saying fullscreen is better over and over again.

Actually, I thought more of these people preferred widescreen... Anywho...

I own about 5 fullscreen TV's, only two of which are commonly used, and one large widescreen at my holiday house. I must say, for movies, widescreen kicks fullscreens arse, but when trying to watch regular TV on a widescreen, everyone looks shorter and fatter. I hope that in a few years, when widescreen really kicks on, that regular TV will be shown in widescreen, because widescreen really kicks arse.

But one problem I have come across; with my widescreen TV, when watching widescreen movies, there is still the black bars down the bottom on some. Or would that just be crappy quality CD's?

EDIT: LotR is totally awesome, best movies of all time. Well, close enough to it...

Braydz, widescreen TVs have an aspect ratio of 16:9. Some DVDs are even wider than that, and thus, you'll still see some really small "leftover" "black bars" onscreen.

Also, I know it's annoying, but there should be a mode on your widescreen TV to push in the sides and reorient the picture. It leaves grey bars on the sides, but you see it as you would on a 4:3 tv.

Widescreen TV is awesome on movies but just a waste for regular broadcasts anyways.

I now realize how awesome widescreen is. But watching regular TV on a widescreen TV still annoys me.

Yeah, thought it maybe had something to do with that, but I can't seem to find any options at all on the TV, or our DVD player, that will fix it. But no biggy, our widescreen is huge.

I own a widescreen TV (Hatachi), and I have no problem with watching full screen tv shows and movies. On my tv there is are three options: Regular (fullscreen), Fill (Wide screen), and Smooth Wide, which stretches the sides for Full Screen movies/tv shows. There is a little distortion, but nothing very noticable.
