Why do they have widescreen and fullscreen, I personally hate widescreen(EDIT: on fullscreen TV's)... But it's just something that doesn't make much sense to me...

Widescreen is obviously much better than fullscreen. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a total idiot.Comment

There are purposes to hexagonal and round, too!
Hexagonal are general study pencils. Often yellow and shaped in a fashion that doesn't waste wood and makes it so that the pencils don't roll easily. They're generally made in mass and bought in bulk. Thus, they are cheap to make and often cheap to buy. My personal favorite pencil : Dixon Ticonderoga
Round pencils are used more in drawing. Artists tend to use larger surfaces and don't have to worry about rolling as much. They're more expensive to cover the cost of the excess wood that is wasted in the cutting process. Normally uses a slightly softer lead.
I could go into detail about the history and production of writing utensils over the ages, but no need to bore you.

It's useful when pencil shopping. Or if you're thinking about investing in pencils or starting a pencil business. It's also important to know the opprotunity cost of pencils vs. pens (more pencils are sold but only pens can be status symbols).

I personally prefer fullscreen. I personally don't understand why they make movies for the theater in widescreen.
Questions: When converting from fullscreen to widescreen, do they just cut off the top and bottom? And when converting from widescreen to fullscreen, do they just cut off the sides?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that they convert from fullscreen to widescreen.Originally posted by ad0ggQuestions: When converting from fullscreen to widescreen, do they just cut off the top and bottom? Movies are made in Widescreen to be to be able to spread out the picture to create a wider background. Widescreen on a DVD allows everything that you see in the theatre on a TV at home, whether or not the TV is widescreen (which is why they have the black bars at the top to keep the proportions correct). Fullscreen on a DVD cuts off the sides of the widescreen version and uses the full TV screen.Comment

Yep.Originally posted by MoogyWidescreen is obviously much better than fullscreen. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a total idiot.
"I hate the blackbars.. the picture is smaller."
NO MORON, the picture is smaller in fullscreen.
A friend of mine buys the fullscreen versions of DVDs and I cannot stand it. The movie is squished and I feel like I'm missing a lot. I tried to watch one of his movies and I couldn't take it. I felt bothered by it because I had seen the movie in widescreen and it was missing so much.
I'm okay with watching a movie the first time in fullscreen. I can handle it. But after watching a movie in widescreen and then trying to watch it in fullscreen... ugh.. *shudders*... It makes whatever the movie is suck. It's like some little annoyance just chipping away at me during the movie and I grit my teeth. It's ridiculous.
I don't see how idiots can like fullscreen over widescreen. I just don't. It's retarded to choose a chopped up version of a movie over the complete version of it.Comment
