    RE: LiveSTRONG

It's just a fad. Expect it to be gone in 5 months.

No one honestly takes those things seriously.

      RE: LiveSTRONG

I have a blue one of the livestrongs.

Or, it's something similar--funds go to Mott's Children Hospital in Ann Arbor.

There's nothing wrong with wearing bracelets when the moeny goes to fight cancer.

But on-topic, that is so awesome. I should get one.

Girl: "One time, a cute boy came up at our school dance and started talking to me, then he asked me to dance. I wanted to say 'yes', but I looked down at my bracelet and thought, 'What would Satan do?'"
          Voice: "Saaaataaaannn..."
Girl: "So, I turned the boy's hair into snakes and set the gym on fire. Thanks, Satan!"

Ah, YDKJ, what a great series of games.

On topic, though, I've been wondering what those things were. I first started seeing them around the time there was a blood drive at my school and Carter gave "blood donor" ones out, so I thought that's what everyone was wearing, but they stuck around for so long...

I wore my blood donor one for a couple of days until it broke, but I wouldn't wear the livestrong one. There's no novelty in it.

I'd pay for it, but I just can't wear bracelets and whatnot... they drive me crazy. It took me forever to get used to a watch.. and then my assistant coach stole my watch... so.

I do remember Build-a-Bear having them.. and you could get a matching one for your teddy bear. I thought that was cute. I'd let my teddy bear wear one.

Hate 'em. I don't have cancer, know one in my family has it (except my recently deceased Uncle Bob), and no one I'm close to has it. Why should I care for it if it doesn't effect me?

Also, I don't spend money on crap. Apparantly, they break, most of the money goes into their production and distribution, and many of the stores that sell them take money for themselves (which just drives the price up to "I buy Abercrombie because it's cool" insanity).

It is just a fad. Which is what bothers me the most. If you really do care about cancer, why do you only care about it during the time the bracelets are cool? If the "morals" behind it are the essence of it, why is it that I see people trading and bragging about the colors and phrases on it. If it's truely the cause, why are there rip-off versions for A&M and what not?

I don't see how Q can assume nobody "close" (I hate that damn word) to us has cancer. I knew two people who died of Brain tumors, plus other people who have had it/ have it, including one person whom I am very "close" to (there's that stupid word again. =/).

Plus my dog (who is now a tripod).

And chances are, due to heredity and other reasons, I will get skin cancer or prostate cancer when I am older. Thankfully, those are highly treatable.

But the cynical view is certainly not always right, Q. Keep that in mind.

I heavily dislike anyone that presumes to wear those things. The money you spend on it is totally insignificant, and most will most likely go to the manufacturer anyway. As Chardish said, it's just a fad that no one cares about.

                              Plus, they are horrendously ugly.
