Qreepy is right in that matter. Everyone wins. Nike, cancer foundations, and you! (That should be a book.)
Anywho, I'm glad that we finally covered the whole situation about not everyone believing in the cause. Another case : The bracelets are sold on eBay for much more than the intended price. What surprises me, though, is that they are two dollars a pop. That's expensive for a ring of rubber (normally 25-50 cents) that can go around your wrist. How much is going to the middle men? How much is going to the cause?
Dancer mentioned that the bands he was talking about were the ones that apparantly don't go to any sort of cause. In other words, yes, lots of people are falling for the fad. Case and point.
LiveSTRONG bracelets sold by the Lance Armstrong Foundation donate all proceeds to cancer research BUT you have to buy them in bulk, which means they mostly go to companies (like Nike) that want to sell them. The companies that buy the bracelets then jack up the price to cover the cost of purchasing the bracelets from LAF. I'm pretty sure there's a way to buy individual bracelets directly from LAF, but I couldn't find it.
The point is, I wouldn't want people looking at me the way I look at just about everyone I see wearing one of those bracelets -- like I'm just a trendwhore wearing a bracelet because I saw Sheryl Crow (ewewew!) wearing a bracelet.
Wow. Very clever. I really don't understand why you hate me so much. I have been gone for months, come back, and am greeted like this? Doesn't make much sense to me. I simply made a comment that seemed to be expressed by a lot of other people in this thread before me, yet I get singled out and recieve the horrible insult.
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.
