Punk was alive a good 20 years ago when it was real punk. Now the world is being taken over by the bassy beats of 50 Cent and the shitty pop-punk of Blink 182. I don't watch music TV channels anymore because they don't play anything that I like. In my 13 years of living, I've seen the Enter Sandman music video 3 times.

Plus, being a metalhead, all the CDs I want have already been bought so I don't have to pay shit. I only had 2 Metallica CDs, 1 was my dad's and the other I bought. Then I got the rest burned 8)

Just because what you see most of the time you don't consider punk doesn't mean there isn't punk.
Hell, that's the same case for a lot of things. Just because one "fake" band exists and is shown often in the media, does not mean another "real" band doesn't.
But punk, shmunk, funk, dunk, sunk, hunk.

        Punk, Shmunk.

No, "real" punk bands just are bands without any talent.

What about the people that used to live
Punk back in the 80's they are (probably)
still alive and possibly living on with the
            Punk way of life.

I turned on the radio to see what was on and my ears were assulted by some idiot singing in an irritating voice with some other asshole playing the same ridiculously happy four chords over and over again on his guitar and some chucklehead abusing the snare drum on his drum set.

I'd say that "punk", "pop", "popunk", "crap", or "whatever it's called now" just won't die.

The whole "discussion" on whether punk is dead or not is really something you can argue about. It's hard to classify a genre into miny genres because someone will argue that those miny genres don't exist or that their favorite band is not "wanabe".

All bands now are just "wanabe" anyway. The only thing that wouldn't be would be the first person to ever create a single note of music.

If you like the music then listen to it, who the fuck cares if they're "posers" or something? I recently found a band, The Superphonic Spree, that sound nothing like the stuff I listen to and a couple of my friends made fun of me today for listening to them. But who the fuck cares? I enjoy listening to it, that's what music is about.

Fuck them and buy all the albums so you can piss them off.

                        I'm sorry.

Punk is still well alive and around today. Real punk music can't be found on radios that play popular or current (i.e. pop) muisc. Most of today's punk is all underground, and some of it is really good. Look for local punk bands if you like that genre, you'll be sure to find it, easily.
