        But Metallica is(was, yada yada. whatever. blah blah) thrash, which was influenced by hardcore, which is closely related to punk.

            Punk and Emo are definitly two different genres, just because there isn't a lot of popular punk, and there's tons of popular emo, doesn't mean punk had become emo.
