It's essentially a way of life now, and yeah, I know two people here in Canada relatively close that had it, one of them died, and heard multiple stories of people here in this community whom also either had it, or know someone irl that had it.

one of my coworkers got it in april and was stuck in the hospital for over a month
every couple of weeks he pops in to visit on an oxygen tank
the first time he showed up since getting it he was out of breath by the time we got him a seat like 50 feet from the entrance

The flat complex my uncle lives at had a Coronavirus outbreak a few months ago. Several people in there got infected, and workers came in routinely to clean up common areas for quite a while. The outbreak was covered in the news for a day or two.
