Question for those that use ddream

I understand using ddream to step files with dynamic BPM, but I'm looking at a file right now that was very obviously stepped with ddream, is very obviously a generic newgrounds song, and very obviously is a static BPM.

STOP USING DDREAM TO STEP GENERIC TECHNO MUSIC.

Seriously, it legitimately angers me to play a cornandbeans file (yes, cnb is touring with excision and we're still stepping cnb like it's fucking 2009) where the BPM consistently drops down from 145 to 144.998 or some bull shit like that.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF USING A TOOL DESIGNED FOR DYNAMIC BPM TO STEP SHITTY MUSIC WITH CONSTANT BPM

Re: Question for those that use ddream

I once finished stepping a chart in ddream, and it still had a constant bpm of 170.00

    I shouldn't be alive

Re: Question for those that use ddream

it's okay to use ddream to sync static bpm songs in like 2 seconds, but the majority of the time people forget to export with the single bpm setting/option. by default it's set to varying/dynamic or w/e, which is why that shifting bpm bullshit happens

          Someone shares my annoyance, haha.

When I see a song that's not dynamic at all, makes me go "whaaa...?" when I see it shift every 4th note.

I've never used it, but doesn't it give you a visual representation of the sound wave behind your notes? How is that less useful just because the bpm is constant? Assuming you use the tool right and correctly set the bpm to be constant the tool still seems useful.

Only reason I use it is for offset purposes.

It can be useful for glitch/IDM (which only a few people step on a regular basis), but there's no reason at all to base a chart off of the waveform of a generic 4/4 newgrounds techno beat. Or sharpnel.

Re: Question for those that use ddream

Because some of us use it to chart everything. I keep my files on a flash drive and I keep DDReam on said flash drive as well. I haven't used SM to chart a single song the whole way through since my first chart (maybe 2nd or third but point being it was super early on.) Earnestly I hate the SM step editor. It sucks. (And the SM5 one isn't much better.)

DDream is just so much nicer to me to step in. There's way more you can do in it. The only complaint I have is that I can't copy paste should I feel the need.

i just find the ui in ddream easier to navigate, and i got used to the shortcuts a lot faster than in the sm editor.

looks more like someone didn't save as single bpm or was too lazy to fix the fluctuations in notepad++

It just bugs me that people then complain about stepping too mush Sharpnel and Corn and Beans when they always have reliable BPM's (Corn and Beans usually goes with 180)
