so, im the only one getting the message that playing at home sucks more than the arcade? i figure thats kinda odd, since its also much harder as well...and as a matter of fact, no im not kidding '_' ....
Part of it (the main part), yes, is the competition. The arcade is where you go to play the best people or others whom you just wouldn't have over to your house.
The other, still big, part of it is that fighting games are meant to be played on an arcade pad, not a joypad. Triggers in a fighting game? Sorry, but that doesn't fly. MvC2 didn't have as much of a problem with this, but boy did MvC1. You can't get precision timing out of triggers.
Or buttons that are sunk into the controller (hi, Tekken on PS2). Also, you really need an analog joystick instead of a digital D-pad.
Other than being free, there's no positive to playing at home.
Whoever made the comment about the DC acted as if keeping the second greatest video gaming system to ever exist was something special.
There is no way I'll ever get rid of mine, despite the fact that playing MvC2 on the DC is completely incomparable to playing at the arcade.
Well I do agree with you on that part. But I should tell you that I have the arcade stick for the dreamcast. So it's just like playing at the arcade.
Sakura is still a good character even when she's not in her rage(akuma) mode. You just gatta use her speed properly.
Another team I used which was my second best was: Akuma with expansion assist, Silver Samurai with projectile assist, and lastly War Machine with anti air assist.
Arcade stick > PS2 controller > other controllers > keyboards for fighting games.
You don't really need an arcade stick unless you're at a super high level of play... A PS2 controller should suffice for most games.
Guido: My bad, I've never actually played MVC2. I'm just repeating what I've heard from other people, sorry if I got the details wrong. The point is that the gameplay didn't appeal to the average Japanese gamer.
It's only a big mistake because we now have a cheap PS2 that can play both kinds, as well as be modded in the same way any version of any PS1 can, to my knowledge.
But DC is nice, I guess. I don't really hear much about it, and I don't own one, myself. I just kinda lost interest in console gaming a while ago, but I've been looking to get back into it in the past few months.

Wrong. It was a mistake because he no longer has a Dreamcast. The only acceptable trade for a Dreamcast is two Dreamcasts. Anything else is trading down and depriving yourself of greatness.
