Ummm, think again. Half Life, HL², HL: Source , Team Forteress Classic , DeathMatch Classic , TF2, Opposing Force, BlueShift. Only 2 huh?

No, you think again, fool. Opposing Force and Blue Shift were both made by Gearbox. HL: Source doesn't count, since it's just an updated engine- think of it as a really, really huge patch. DM Classic, TFC, CS, and all those other mods were third party until they were licensed by Valve. They didn't help any more than provide bandwidth.

And we're back where we started- they made Half-Life, and Half-Life 2. Way to go, you fail.

, Ok, I correct : I like all the games made on the HL and HL² engine. Unless they are gay mods (not that I mean that all mods are gay, wich is f
        alse).

Uh well first of all. The (Half-Life 2) engine as you call it, is called the Source engine. Anyways...

Natural selection 2 is going to be awesome.. but I'm guessing it won't be out for quite a long time... we'll see.

As for halflife 2... might be SPOILERS so read with caution if you don't want to spoil anything.

I beat it in just under 14 hours, and got I bought it on the 16th... very great gameplay... visuals are amazing.. the AI is pretty good, though I found quite a few flaws. It seems they like to re-use the same character models and voices a little "too" much throughout.. or mix them up.. i.e.: give a black man in the underground railroad a white man's voice... (I didn't get that) - there was also a man and woman together near the begining in an apartment, the woman is crying and asking when it is all going to be over, while the man reassures her... the same couple is shown again near the end of the game but in miltary outfits (as part of the resistance), however... same exact dialogue and animation.

There were quite a few appearances of the infamous G Man, some of which I saw online and have yet to see for myself in game... though next week when I'm back off my laptop and back on my desktop I'll probably resume playing through my second time on hard mode... (which is actually a bit challenging compared to the easy-as-hell easymode - 3 modes to choose)

Personally, the things that did bother me were the lack of detail during the final level when you can see the city far below... it just looked like SNES graphics. Another problem was the insanely re-used character models... though they were amazing.. I just thought an improvement could be to not use them so much that it's so entirely noticeable. The ending really pissed me off... no giant boss monster to kill, and the ending was just a cliffhanger. Difficulty in HL2 was easy at best, even on hard mode. I was expecting a few boss monsters or at least something other than the ever so repetitive combine units, head crabs, and crabhead-infested people. Ok... so there were some nice new headcrabs and some of the monsters from Ravenhom were pretty cool... but still. Very repetitive in using the monsters.

Let's see what else... I was expecting more of an ending than another cliffhanger.. unless there's something extra shown in the hard difficulty.
You use some energy balls to destroy a teleport device... wow. So... anti-climatic. I guess that's it for now... until I have something more. :P

The vehicles, weapons, everything was amazing.. The things I ranted about were probably the reason HL2 recieved a 98% instead of 100% from PC Gamer. Still overall my favorite PC game... for now.

No, the reason it recieved 98% instead of 100 is because PCG is one of the only non-retarded magazines out there. To give it 100% would be saying that it's completely perfect, nothing could be improved on it whatsoever. Which is clearly not true. That's why mags that give games 5/5 or 10/10 suck.

Agreed. No game can be perfect.

Screenies bihiatch. Unfortunately, in addition to my being really busy lately, stupid HL2World's supposed 'hl2 multiplayer' workaround erased my save game. So, I'm starting from scratch. Gonna have to wait a bit longer for some zombie shots and whatnot.

So... I don't see why you're saying "No."

You should be saying... Yes Aedak... the 20 things you complained about were probably the reason it didn't receive 100% instead of 98%. I never said it did deserve 100%.. I said it was incredible, however since there were so many flaws (which I went over) it couldn't possibly get 100%.

Argh. I hate the screenshot system. MOST games now will save the file to the folder of the game. Not this one.

Unless I'm wrong and I have like 40 awesome screenshots hidden somewhere...

My entire point was that no game could ever be 100% perfect. So where's the sense in rating it 10/10? It makes more sense to rate it on a percent system, which will always be more realistic. Even if it fixed all the flaws people found with the game, it still wouldn't get 100%.

Unless I'm wrong and I have like 40 awesome screenshots hidden somewhere...
You are. If you bought through steam, it saves them automatically to X:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/[email protected]/Half-Life2/hl2/screenshots. I don't know where it saves them if you bought retail, but it's probably the same.

Any game could receive 100%. If they had fixed those flaws, it would have received 100%.

The game will run on almost ANY computer. You just have to force DX8.1 / DX7 textures (there's a command, but I don't remember what.)

So have no fear about it not running :P

If anything, this should have been the only game to ever deserve 100%.

Nobody can anticipate for minor bugs in their game. These guys worked on this for eight YEARS to make it perfect. It's good enough, OK?

Rating places need to realize that a 10/10 doesn't qualify as "ZOMG NOTHING EVER TO COME OUT EVER AGAIN WILL EVER BEAT THIS GAME."

Also, my retail copy doesn't have that folder. Sad face. No awesome screenshots of me breaking boxes over Alyx's face using the Gravity Gun.
