    Re: OoT

I haven't disliked a single Zelda title I've played. Between the original, II, ALTTP, LA(DX), Four Swords (and Adventures), OoT, MM, WW, TP, SS, ALBW, PH, OoS/OoA, and Minish Cap, I've loved them all.

Wind Waker will forever be my favorite Zelda though. The artwork is incredible for its time and even today. The combat system was fantastic. The story was beyond amazing (and really pretty dark/depressing at times if you pay attention), and the music OH MY GOD THE MUSIC. Too strong.

Ocarina of Time was fantastic as well. While of course its looks and glitches haven't aged well, the game itself has, being widely played around a decade and a half after being released. The same applies to Majora's Mask. People claim OoT to be the best game ever because it revolutionized the gaming industry and really made 3D worlds relevant.

Skyward Sword was another great one, it was a nice change of pace from the argued linearity of the previous titles. The music was top quality as always, too.

      Re: OoT

When people talk about SS, somehow they never mention it's by far the best 1:1 motion swordplay game ever made.

Like that aint even a thang.

Of course the reason it's my favourite is story and music.

I actually attribute this almost entirely to Mario 64.

Super Mario 64 revolutionized 3D platformers.

Ocarina of Time revolutionized 3D Action/Adventure games.

Two different genres going on, dohoho.

I have only beat OoT, Minish Cap, and Wind Waker
          I'm like 3/4 through Majora's Mask
I remember playing Oracle of Seasons/maybe ages. Can't remember, it was when i was a kid. Can't remember much about it, but I do remember it being pretty awesome.

My favorite is tied between Minish Cap and OoT though x)

The game is certainly lower on the list of Zelda's, but it definitely wasn't bad by any stretch. I actually really liked the latter half of the game.

Haven't played it's sequel, Spirit Tracks though. Have gotten a lot of reviews from both sides.

                  Re: OoT

The only Zelda games I 100% beat were Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask... And Wand of Gamelon...

What does that make me if I say that, out of those 3, I had the most fun (to the strictest sense) beating Wand of Gamelon?

Seriously speaking, I think OoT was and is still today the best Zelda home console game, with the possible exceptions of Skyward Sword and Zelda's Adventure (I highly doubt it) because I haven't touched those myself. Then I'd put Twilight Princess right behind even though I didn't complete it, and then Majora's Mask. Not sure how to treat aLTTP (it IS great don't get me wrong, I just can't rate it), Wind Waker always trolled the shit outta me, original LoZ imo is incredibly inferior to many of its clones (like Golden Axe Warrior), and Link to the past, aside from the cool atmosphere, is probably the worst of all.

I think OoT is the best because it it the most flowing in my book. Very memorable tunes, some of which are still legendary to this day. It also revolutionarized the 3D adventure genre, as many other peeps have said. None of the dungeons ever feel chore-ish to get through (imo), and no, not even the water temple, which I'd say is unique to the Zelda series. And a lot else could be stated...

... But while I agree Majora's Mask (for example) might be better constructed in pretty much every aspect, it doesn't have the same charm OoT has for me. I guess it cannot be boiled down to objectiveness either. It's like trying to argue how oranges taste so much better than strawberries. It could definitely just be a matter of taste, novelty and nostagia, and I'd just blast OoT anyday regardless of anything.

                    Re: OoT

OoT is great because it does so much right. The battle mechanics are intuitive, the characters and music are memorable, there are tons of interesting dungeons, bosses, and secrets to discover, and the art/graphics are quite pretty (esp. for its time). The story is pretty easy to follow, as well.

All in all it was just a solid action/adventure game. The Zelda games that have come out since then have not been as good (in my opinion), although I enjoyed Majora's Mask quite a bit. Stuff like Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, etc don't sit well with me (for a variety of reasons).

Just comes down to personal taste, I suppose.

                      Re: OoT

A Link to The Past is my fav zelda title but it's literally the only one I've played all the way through (though I've watched a ton of the other zelda games)

I disliked Twilight Princess probably because it was the very first Wii game I played next to Wii Sports so the controls felt super tedious to me. Especially not growing up with N64 and missing out on Wind Waker for GCN, it was a totally different feel of Zelda game to me. (I lost interest about an hour into the game)

Original Zelda for NES was a pretty awful game because of how unintuitive it is in spots but I guess this is the case for a lot of older titles.

I had Link's Awakening DX for original Gameboy and had absolutely no idea where to go/what I was doing half the time but gimme a break I was fuccen 8 or something.

All of my close friends who've played OoT say it's the best video game they've played so it must be a combination of teenager nostalgia and being a good game when it comes down to it.

Wind Waker is objectively the best Zelda game to me though, the atmosphere is incredible and unique imo.

okay I can understand that this might be an opinion, and all the other points did make sense

but the graphics were hideous even for a N64 game.

p.s. anyone who insists OOT was a good game should try completing the original Water Temple again. Thank god the 3DS port fixed the problem with switching Iron Boots.

lol that is literally almost one of the blandest shots from the game you could have possibly chosen.

But N64 graphics at the time were considered state of the art in terms of realtime rendering (OoT was released in 1998-1999 in the US).

Recall that Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was an animated movie that came out around 2001 and used some of the most advanced graphical technology available... but it wasn't real-time rendering, unlike what you could get from the game consoles. Every little piece of that movie had to be painfully micromanaged and rendered (including individual hair strands).

Also the movie bombed pretty hard because it sucked, but I digress.

Oh shit I forgot the trailer used Sleep Now by Hughes Hall (from Dark City)

The final shot of the movie (the elevator ride + mountains) was the only redeeming aspect of the entire movie. Everything else was super disappointing. Nothing at all to do with FF.
