It just seems so natural to say "I'm going to step a file today." I don't mind saying the word "chart" instead, but I think it will be a rough transition for people considering it's been like this for quite sometime. Plus, it's ultimately up to the community if they want to change it for themselves...and by what I've read, it doesn't look like that's going to really happen anytime soon.
Couldn't you say, "Step a 4k file?" ,"Step a pad file", "Step a solo file"? I don't really see the confusion between the two. :/

This may be due to me studying a business related field, but whenever I see/hear someone saying they're going to "chart something" - I always hope that they're going to add in graphs and stuff in an effort to promote synergy within the stepmania community.

I'll stick to using the word 'step'.
