    I may be willing to eventually continue the project somehow (havent decided exactly how), but I won't be involved with coding. Life has gotten in the way heh. I've been looking for a few people who are highly experienced with c++/win32, digital audio processing, GUI design, and professional level coding skills to presumably clean up the mess that is ddream's source code. However, no one's accepted the challenge thus far. I will probably not just post 5+ years of code open-source for people to rummage through, I am looking for actual developers focused and dedicated to this project. For example:

    * universal support for all rhythm games (including those that are not stepmania-based)
    * porting to different operating systems
    * customizable GUI
    * customizable keyboard/joy controls for playback
    * auto beat recognition
    * auto stepping

    EDIT: there has to be a certain high level of trust between us developers, and that there will be some kind of interview(s) to confirm that.

    btw here is a list of ddream tutorials/misc random stuff that's ddream realted.

        Haha, yes, I did change my sig. I was wondering how I can change my tagline from "FFR Player" to something more appropriate.

          You will have to either be a veteran, FFR simfile author (which is ironic, for instance, I'm an author because of you), FFR music artist, moderator, admin, etc. I don't believe admins make exceptions, even though you programmed the tool on which the rhythm gaming community now runs.

                thanks for the info whocares973. I remember Patashu from years back, glad to know he's still a strong part of the community.

                I also might want to add that there has to be a certain high level of trust between us developers, and that there will be some kind of interview(s) to confirm that.

                actually now that I think about it, I might have even run this idea by patashu awhile back. I don't know whether he is still up for it though.

                  *updated OP with videos*

                  This is a thread he made a while back:
                  http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=118564

                  I think it's something you might be looking for since he talks about that very topic.

                    yeah, that's what I last remembered about Patashu and ddream. Hopefully he'll see this ongoing thread and let us know what he wants to do.

                    thanks for the update!

                      I saw it, but I figured out that, because it had no voice whatsoever, it wasn't really a useful tutorial...

                      I watched it again and realized it might be useful for people who are more visual, so I'll add it too. Thanks for the heads up!

                        Re: DDReamStudio - Official Guide

                        I'm having trouble saving and opening files. For my first song that I submitted in the batch that just closed I only placed the beats in ddream studio and I actually made the stepfile in the stepmania editor so I didn't have this problem before.

                        I spent an entire day making a stepfile and saved it, and when I tried to open it again, it pops up with an error saying "I did not find a proper music file. I will start with a blank editor. You should verify the filename is correct and the audio is in the proper format and try again." It's not like I'm saving the file with a different name as the mp3, they're the same name. I made a whole new stepfile again yesterday and the same exact thing happened.

                        I can go to the backup folder and open up the ds and dsx file for the completed stepchart and see all my work, but I can't actually open it. How am I able to open the file?

                          the ds, dsx, and/or the .sm file must be in the same folder as the music file.

                          as such, if you ever need to restore a backup, go into backup, grab the version you want to restore, and put it in the same folder as the music.

                          i wonder if anyone ever needed to restore a backup?

                          or ever undid/redid an entire simming session using undo/redo just for fun?

                              backup has saved me many, many times

                              sometimes my ddream clears out my steps for no reason, so i have to use backup .ds files to get it back, amazing feature imo
