    Really bad steps on FFR

No offense to Synth, but the stepfile for Salad For Your Tuesday is REALLY REALLY bad... it is just irritating and not fun to play. It doesnt' go with the music at all, it feels offbeat, and it's annoying. There are some other songs with horrible stepfiles too. I mean the songs are good, like Salad For Your Tuesday is a really good song, but...

I'm very new at making stepfiles, but I KNOW I could make a better file for that song if I knew it was going to go on FFR.

What's up with these files? Why are they still here and not being replaced? I'd think that by now someone would realize that a great song like that deserves a good stepfile.

Or am I the only one that finds it very horrible or something?
C is for Charisma, it's why people think I'm great! I make my friends all laugh and smile and never want to hate!

i pretty much have to second this.

another thing. why are the stepfiles so far behind the beat? after 6 months of playing arcade ddr and having good enough PA to SDG many 9 footers, i find it odd how my "good" counts end up being so high in ffr. of course, when i played it again and forced myself to go slower than the music (almost to the point of being half a beat off), i only got a couple of goods. whoever synchs the game's music really needs to fix it, or at least allow a timing change option like the DDR home games have.

Want to know a ruined song? The beautiful : Midnight Sonata.

Its way off-sync, its the only easy piece in the classical section, and the song ends in the middle of nowhere. Its a rip-off of the real song.

Maybe its because FFR was made in Flash and DDR wasn't.

you guys need to understand that most problems cant be taken care of as soon as you want...synth has a crap load of stuff to do and he doesnt have time to sync a little song. when the new version comes out, more than likely stuff like this will be fixed, and if it isnt, make ur own stepfiles if u care so much. or just dont play at all. simple as that.

I have a proposal for Chrissi and anyone else who is complaining about the stepfile. You pour a lot of time and money into a non-profit flash game that can grow just as fast as FFR with perfect syncing on every stepfile, and I will give you a million dollars. Seriously people, n00bs just don't understand everything they have. I remember when Rondo Alla Turca first came out, and it was the START of the classical section. there were very few songs to begin with, and you never experienced what it was like, so you aren't grateful for what you have.

Curse you, Panda, I was going to say that!

But all of you should feel free to make a dwi of it. A better, onsync one.

                Shoo, now. Go make it.

                Signature subject to change.

I haven't noticed a real problem with the arrows being off beat. Then again, I'm normally only playing easier level songs because I'm nowhere near good enough to do Standard and up. About the only thing I came across was in Terror from Beyond (I think) where some doubles appear to have the arrows slightly offset, one a bit higher than the other. This threw me for a while because I was trying to hit them separately, in sequence, quickly and it wasn't working. When I decided to try hitting them as regular doubles, I found out that worked. OK, now I know what to do; it's not too big of a deal to me, I adjust. It was definitely distracting at first, but I can work around it now. I don't know what higher level songs are like. If they have off parts, maybe it's worse and harder to adjust to. If there are problems, hopefully the admin/creator knows and will fix them in future updates.

Possibly an aside, but how do you make step files? I mean, do you run a program and tap out the steps on the keyboard, letting the program make the file for you? Or can you just write up something in a text file, manually placing in all the steps and rests? If it's the former, almost nothing's going to be perfect. If it's the latter, you should be able to get it just right, but it may take a lot of time and effort.

Essentially retired now, but still ranked on the list of FFR's Top One Handers.

                        Everything on FFR is offsync.

                        Yes, everything.

Not much you can do about it except play Stepmania.

it's true, stalled out and sushi is more on the synch than many of the other songs, which is why it's one my favorites to play. hopefully when remix 2 is done everything will be more on synch
