Dawn of the Giggles Color. #29 & #30

Sorry for the lateness of the tokens…. but it’s still only 9:30 here on the West Coast. Anyway…

Dawn is another Trance song by Kyle Ward alias KaW. File is by Triplex72, and has the distinction of being in the queue longer than any other song. EVER! (Except July, but that doesn’t count, since I specifically held off on releasing it for a reason. Dawn was just random that it was never released earlier, mostly). So big thanks to Triplex on being so patient on getting his first file in the game. Difficulty is set at an 8, mostly for length. The song is 3:30, bunch of gallops. Unlock req: Get a FC on The Pylons Are TRAP BALLS with at least 546 perfects.

Color of Giggles is a real fun song by sleeplessdragn, one of our in-house music extraordinaires. The song is 200bpm, full of upbeatness. Rated a 10 for its 4-framers, but overall it doesn’t have any long streams; just many long bursts and 8th chains. File is by dAnceguy117, his 2nd. The unlock req is interesting on this one…. Shash came up with it. Your combo must be 5 times greater than your combined total of goods, averages, misses, and boos on Vertex BETA (along with passing it). Aka, a Full Combo (1755) with 200 goods, 100 averages, 0 misses, and 60 boos would NOT unlock it (200+100+60 * 5 = 1800). BUT, a combo of 500 with 20 goods, 20 averages, 20 misses, and 20 boos WOULD unlock it (20+20+20+20 * 5 = 400).

2 Skill Tokens & An Artist URL Update!

I’ve been busy today… in addition to the 2 skill tokens, I’ve spent most of my morning updating our list of URLs for all of FFRs artists. After all, exposure IS the reason why these bands/artists give us permission. Still missing some, mostly ones from 3+ years ago or japanese artists… so I’m going to rely on you guys to help me out. If you know of a URL for an artist that is currently missing a URL, please PM me the link. You can view all of this information in THREE different places…. The FFR Song List (does not include Secret, Token, or Skill songs), The Genre List (does not include Secret), or you can view the information from each level’s individual levelstats page.

Again… if you know a working URL for one of the bands or artists that I am missing, please PM me the information. As you guys are unable to view the Secret genre songs except individually via their levelstats, the artists from that genre that I’m missing are: Kil, Sampling Masters CHANG, DJ Destruction, DJ Lain, Jordan Neff, DJ RageVI, and DJ Bladerunner. As you can see, I had trouble with people who had DJ in their name.

As for the 2 skill tokens! Heavy Danger is from a popular newsground artist named Manmademusic. Pretty cool sounding song, if you ask me. Little rock-ish, little techno-ish. File is medium difficulty; I listed it as a 7. Made by SulferDragon. All you have to do to unlock it is AAA Free Space, which is found in Dance.

What-ever is our first non-VertexBETA song by Silvia. I’m certainly no expert on music genres (as I’m sure you all know by now), but it has a bit of an epic trance sound to me, at least in the beginning. Anyway, before I continue to show off my lack of musical knowledge, I’ll digress. File is by Silver_Brian and is again of medium difficulty; again rated a 7 by yours truly. To unlock this fun little piece, pass Delirium with a 400+ combo. Delirium is in Dance2.

I think that is about it for now… subscribers can expect a song later tonight. Assuming Kit- is finished sending me updates on it. I think she’s given me about 12 so far. Everyone else can expect a subscriber song to go public some time on Sunday.

I have a URL for DJ Lain, but I think it is the wrong person. That is the FULL list of artist’s I’m missing, minus the ones that clearly don’t have them.

The first person to get this reference in the title and post it in this news story will get 2,000 credits from LD I’m back again with your next token! I gotta be quick today, since in about 4 hours there’s gonna be tons of freshmen running around my campus for Orientation!

Today’s song is Liquid Moon, it’s unlocked by Tension, and all you have to do is get 300 or more misses (But keep it under ten boos)! Seems easy enough… I would think

New Feature: Regional Leaderboards

Even though it was suggested mere days ago, tonight we bring to public release our Regional Leaderboards.

What is it exactly? Well… it’s a list of the top players based on average rank, in several regions based in the USA and around the world. To get on the list, you need to do a few things, in this order…

1. Edit your profile info to select which region fits you best. If you live in the US, we have a map linked from that page that should help you choose which you belong to, if you aren’t in the US, you should be able to figure out from the other regions listed where you belong.
2. Once that’s saved, head on over to your level ranking page, by hitting this page, your stats will automatically be added to your regions leaderboard.

That’s it! If you’re in the top ten, you’ll be able to see your name listed next to your peers… if you’re not in the top ten, you’ll at least get to see your rank added to your “region mates” in terms of the regions average rank.

We’ll be adding a top 50/100 for each individual region in the very near future, once we see how we handle the mass influx of users to the new leaderboards. Who knows, maybe you’ll be able to make it to the top of your region.

Aren’t I so clever today LD back atcha once again for your second skill token of the day.

For this skill token, being average isn’t so bad! In fact, it’s essential to unlocking Crow Song. In order to do so, you’ll need to get at least 20 more averages than goods and at least 150 more perfects than goods on Noir Remixed. Simple enough, yes?

Be on the lookout for some more goodies later this week, including a few subscriber features going public, and maybe a few more surprises!

What an Exotic Token!

Hey Everyone, LD here! Tass is on vacation, so you’ll have to deal with me and Jason for the next few days!

Today’s token is an easy one, should be able to do it with your eyes closed. In order to unlock “Exotica” by Banzai (Stepfile by dore), just pass Zodiac… with 200 or more averages. Simple enough, right

And as always, you can check out the skill token stats to check back on some tokens you may have missed, and to see how many people are just that much better than you

R3… a new type of FFR??? or just a new stepfile.

Just a new stepfile. well, not JUST… a new stepfile is a big deal! YAY! R3 (Omega Mix) is a remix of a DDR Song called R3 by Tiger Yamato. This mix is by one of my buddies, DM Ashura. File is by Silver_Brian and is an 8 footer.

To unlock this new R3 version of stepfile and song…. you must Full Combo Lift Up, which can be found in the Skill Token section! Yay! I told you there was a reason that Lift Up unlocked so easily…. BUT WE AREN’T DONE YET…..

Also, 2 new subscriber only songs are available. Check out Funk. Or wait 3 weeks until they’re publicly available.

THIS…. IS….. F. F. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – 300th FFR Song

With good reason too. Halt the presses, because this is a special public release! A break from the challenges of skill token month. To give you…. the GREATEST song of all time (well, 2nd. Next to TMWT.)

Created way back before I was even a member of this site…. sitting away in the back of NestleKwik’s hard drive, gathering dust…. was the song that made FFR famous. Immortalized for history, by the one… the only… Excluded. The song is so powerful, it’s only name is FFR.

For such a glorious song, we needed to have a glorious way to unveil it. We considered waiting all the way until November, for the site’s 5 year anniversary. BUT THAT WAS TOO LONG! We had to give the people what they wanted. So, after weeks of torturous thinking, it finally dawned on me. We would release this masterpiece as Flash Flash Revolution’s 300th song. At 3:00pm Central. On July THIRD. An alignment of the threes, possibly unlocking the triforce or the triumvirate. I only hope that we know what we’re doing.

My words can not give this song or file justice, so I will let all of you judge for yourselves. It can be found in the upper left hand corner of Misc. The file is by jimerax, and is the greatest chart ever released upon the public. I have heard rumors of better files by the great masters themselves…. but they were so powerful, they knew they could not be placed upon the simfile database, for fear of what might happen.
