tbh if youre a stepmania player and you wanna lose weight you should just start playing on pad unless money is a problem. makes exercise fun unless you play slow super hawaii anime songs

I know a good number of pad players in my area that are fat. Not trying to discredit your suggestion, but just saying.

one does not simply hate everyone that plays stepmania AND watch anime.

money really isn't a problem at the moment but I'm saving up for anime north and I'd have nowhere to put a pad since I'm living with family

yeah those are the people im talking about. i dont play pad that much but when i do, i play for like 2-4 hours and its the most tiring cardio ive ever done (compared to like running or biking or whatever). maybe thats just because my technique is shit and i put way too much energy into my steps lol
in that case "shit technique" works in your favor though since it's more energy used
I've actually considered playing in weighted shoes for this reason. not all the time, but in select strength training periods
i feel like that would fuck up your ankles. but yea, pad sm is capable of tiring you out no matter what level you play at. if you're new, your technique is bad and youll get tired. if you're good, the hard songs will tire you out. it never ends
Exercise alone in most people that are overweight isn't sufficient for weight loss though, since your body compensates after exercise by making you feel hungrier. Unchecked, most people just eat back the extra calories they burn, which is why most diets attempted through increased exercise alone fail or burn out after a couple of weeks (you'll get sick of killing yourself with exercise only to feel like you're starving to death and you will start eating more).
I'm sure a lot of people can point to top players and note that most of them are skinny, but 1. most of them were already skinny, and 2. the ones that did lose weight play so much that it's physically difficult to eat back all the calories, and for most people it isn't possible to burn that many calories.
