    Utawarerumono

Hakuoro has lost his memory after succumbing to serious injuries; but thanks to a elderly woman and her granddaughter Eruruu, he is nursed back to health. His face is covered by a strange irremovable mask and he occasionally sees beastly visions. Eruruu now cares for him as he becomes accustomed to the village and its inhabitants who all bear strange ears (the women have tails too). Though these people venerate the forces of nature, desecration of an alter forces them to take drastic measures to preserve their lives from the wrath of Mutikapa-sama, guardian of the forest.
Fabulous show. Can't wait until all the main characters are introduced. Only like 6 more to go.

I was shocked to realize I could pronounce "Utawarerumono" correctly.

Nothing REALLY important has happened so far. As of yet, all they've done is introduce the plot and the major "drive" that compels the main character to do what he will be doing.

I see this show emulating a good RPG, and that is why I think I will like it.

I'm curious, what makes it different than all the other anime (yes I'm actually serious)? To me, most animes are the same... what's so different about this one?

              People have weird ears.

              And the girls have tails.

And there's a different and unique story in each anime, so basing your opinion of anime by what you think is all the same old stuff over and over again is not the best way to evaluate something.

                Eruruu~~~

That, and the story looks like it will be fairly serious. Warfare is about to erupt, and this show does not shy away from death or blood.

Things really being happening in episode 4, but I still have no real idea what direction the main plot is going to head in (aside from war being a major factor). As long as it isn't anything too utterly generic I should be able to enjoy it for the characters and the occasional good battle.

                  Re: Utawarerumono

I'm going to call Shenanigans on the word "Utawarerumono". Not even the Hawaiians would come up with something so random and... and... random.

Look kiddies... Keasodigaeignsldowetiddddddddddieorsngsoeisaiaieithjsly is now a word. It is an adverb (duh, see the ly on the end) that modifies the verb Keasodigaeignsldowetiddddddddddieorsngsoeisaiaieithjs which means "to punch Japanese children in the face just for the humor value of hearing their squeaky high-pitched voices curse in Japanese." A sentence example would be, "John Keasodigaeignsldowetiddddddddddieorsngsoeisaiaieithjsed little Hiroshima and laughed so hard he fell over directly on top of little Hiroshima."

EDIT: vB decided to put a random space in my word, after the t near the end. That is NOT the proper spelling of the word. Picture the above listed spelling, just without that space.

I dunno, Tass. The Hawaiians created "kamehameha".

There exist in this world OTHER LANGUAGES.

"Utawarerumono" means "The One Being Sung"

Guess where I found that out.

PS - Maybe you could pronounce it better if it were written うたわれるもの. Took me about 3 seconds to type that in Notepad even though ANN has the title on the page anyway.

Are they aware of things called spaces at least?

I like my word, btw. I think I shall start using it regularly. One day, it WILL be in the Oxford English Dictionary. Or at least Websters.

Sentences in Japanese don't have spaces. All you get are spaces after a comma or a period and maybe some other marks as well.

It's a pretty difficult language to learn and there's a reason I won't ever take it as an elective.
