in before cbr disses everyone who makes their own patches
too late
Most of the time as lurker suggests I select a preset, tweak some parameters on the plugin such as internal arp, reverb, and obviously fix it's position in the mix; then if necessary I post-filter it with distortion / wet/dry etc.
I respect people who have the ability to shape their own sounds (sound designers) but being a musician it seems tedious for me when you can just alter presets to sound as amazing and still retain "your sound". I guess there some kind of purist debate here, but I'd rather not be part of it -- either approach is fine.

I like that. "I get to Z from W because its faster than starting at A"
Yo, KgZ recommend me some Studio Monitors for my budget (college student lyfe).
I think I really need / want some to bring my production up to a more solid level.
M-Audio BX5 D2 Studio pair monitors- they're roughly around the $200 range for both speakers and relatively small so they won't be too much of a hassle either.
The for the price, the quality of the speaker is pretty good. Depending on your preferences, the BX5 on the brighter side compared to most "high quality" speakers.
Thank you I was actually looking at the vast amount of studio monitors they had but was indecisive -- mainly due to my lack of knowledge... Time to save up!
Finally, is there a certain port / plug / connector I need for the studio speakers or will they work over USB / Audio jack. I am a complete newbie working with audio hardware and I hope these will come with the necessary hookup and just "plug and play" with my Desktop computer. (which i fear they wont)
I apologize for derailing this thread from its original intent but professional help on matters like this is absolutely irreplaceable and I thank you for helping me out.
here is the sample, basically I put this one shot sample that I made into my sampler and played the pitched bent notes as a melody... kind of ghetto but I used 3 osc to make this lmao
I basically layered samples in FLs playlist and kept manipulating them in edison and the sampler along with a vst called truc and re sampling the outcome... it was an expiremental process at best, I didn't expect to make this sound. the original 2 samples were a sine wave and saw and through much manipulation and layering and even automation this is what came of it.
So I'm messing around a bit with SynPlant, really need to buy this because it's amazing.
Made a bit of a saw pad, although I don't know how I could personally use it.
MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.
Turning the effect up on this gives it a very noisy, granulated sound. Turning it down gives it more of a sawtooth bass feel, so if you plan on using that, tweak the release accordingly.

I love SynPlant so much, I didn't think anyone used it. I should re-download it.
