Macbook Pro

Was looking to get one and was wondering if anyone here has one, and how Stepmania runs on one, as well as Flash, among other things. I assume that the OS on these computers are optimized for the hardware they use, but I'd like more opinions on how it handles things.

I have no intentions of using this as anything but a MEDIA (video editing, photo editing, music, movies, etc) machine with Stepmania. I have my desktop for gaming, and I'm looking to get a cleaner, different laptop that's not running Windows or Linux.

leonid uses a macbook pro and it has served him nicely for a few years iirc

however, i heard the keys are prone to wearing out rather quickly but i'm assuming you won't be mashing files every day so you should be fine

Yeah, chances are I won't be. If I'm home I'd probably be playing on my desktop anyway.

I use a macbook pro.

Stepmania works flawlessly... however I have noticed a (Little) bit of lag and delay issues with Flash in relation to JUST the R^3 engine on FFR.
(In other words, Quads count the 4th arrow to be late always... gg forever D2)

I can go over more with you about that if you want, but otherwise there is no problem with it at all.

yes. with a Razor. No luck.

I have been trying to find other FFR users with mac's to see if they have this problem... It seems like I am the only one.

Sounds more like an anti-ghosting incompatibility more than something related to the actual notebook. Not all Razer keyboards have anti-ghosting by the way.

I feel like that might be the issue.

HOWEVER: I don't know why this slipped my mind till right now:

On R^3, 60FPS will not work. It will have a delay, and even if you set the offset it will still be off. Hell, I can record it and show you what I experience on my end. But nobody in the world seems to own a mac who plays on this site on R^3 so I have nobody to compare to hahaha.

But, I play on 30FPS and it works fine.

But overall, If you are buying a macbook JUST for stepmania, then I would absolutely go for it.

EDIT: ....if you really wanna spend all that money just for it.

I just got my MBP 15" w/ retina display not that long ago, it's definitely worth getting. (Only got one cause I work at Apple) Not recommended for gaming, but any other task you throw at it, gets it done quickly and efficiently.

stop referring to high resolution IPS as retina pls. this is basically the same as saying that all mp3 players are ipods; it's fucking stupid.

just use boot camp.....?? the hardware is more than powerful enough for gaming.

it's no better than any pc laptops aside from doing work stuff. if you're going into animation that'd be great.

only difference is that shit is gold plated and will probably last you longer
