    So I bought my computer...

    I really just wanted to buy one, so instead of building it myself which I found out would end up costing me a shitton for shipping/duties, I just went and bought a decently nice Asus. I will custom build my gaming desktop next year.

    So far I love it.

    Asus G75V series:
    •Intel Chief River i7-3630QM 2.4GHz Turbo up to 3.4GHz
    •16GB DDR3 system memory
    •1TB hard disk drive
    •15.6” HD with LED backlight
    •Windows 8 (64bit)
    •2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M

    ~1800 with tax...

              light gaming and school. I was looking at similar laptops online that would cost me about 1600 after taxes and shit, with a 1gig vid card Nvidia 660, and only 8 gigs of ram.

              Oh and its Canada. Nothing is cheap here lol

                  8 more gigs of RAM isn't going to make a difference if all you're using this for is light gaming and school work.

                  Also Staples is kind of an awful place to buy laptops from.

                  Also the page says it's 17.3", while saying in other places it's 15.6". Which is it?

                      But I thought what the heck, better video card and 8 gigs more ram for 200 dollars more plus I get it today...

                              Yeah, But I can also get a top of the line desktop in a year. This is my schooling laptop I didn't want to cheap out. Got to last me 4-5 years, my last 700 dollar laptop lasts like 2 years before it crapped out.

                                  Because laptops are crap. That's why you don't spend tons of money on them and use it for a long lasting desktop instead.

                                      This, honestly...laptops dont really last if you use them frequently, regardless of how theyre built.

                                      Just saying, putting those parts in a desktop would have saved about 800 dollars (btw if you walk into a microcenter they'll have your stuff to pickup, no delivery costs)

                                      edit: 800 if you get deals on some things. besides, with an intel youre shelling out more than i'm used to, so i guess with no deals maybe around 600 excluding a nice monitor, kb, speakers, etc)

                                          I live in a tiny city, I have to drive 3 hour just to get to the nearest "actual city" (60000 people). We have staples here and that's all. I built a computer and it was not as good as this, and for everything shipping, duties, etc, was 1600 dollars. I decided that just buying from Staples would be better because I needed a computer ASAP.

                                                      The only good laptops (in gaming relation) are macs.
                                                      Windows however rapes mac in games overall (like for towers and whatnot)
