I built a computer and it was not as good as this, and for everything shipping, duties, etc, was 1600 dollars.

How is that even possible? I just got one with the following specs for a little less than $1600:

CPU - Intel i7-3820 Quad Core 3.60 GHz
Graphics - Nvidia GTX 670 (EVGA SC 2GB)
Memory - 8GB DDR3/1600 MHz
Storage - 120GB SSD/1TB HDD
+Liquid cooling kit
+Case
+Better case fans
+Blue cathode light for sweet looks

Anyway, laptops are amazing if you get the right ones. I love having desktop capabilities that I can carry around with me.

Had a decent desktop before... quad-core... but this thing destroys it 50 times over and it has more features, amazing battery, blu-ray, and I can take it with me wherever.

I don't have the same laptop as you but seeing all these posts about desktops being elite and whatnot is annoying. He said it was for school, so I assume he needs to take it with him, and if he can afford it then there shouldn't be any issues.

Mine was $2200+ after being shipped from NCIX and I have no regrets about it at all.

Thank you! My sisters tower was 1800 bucks, cost 200 for tax and another like 300 for duties.

You will love that laptop. I sold one similar to it and it ran like a dream. Make sure you do the Asus warranty registration. 1 Year Accidental Damage/30-Day Zero Bright Dot is a superb warranty. Take care of it and it should last you 3-5 years without upgrades :) By that time large SSD's will be much cheaper.
