Depending on what kind of gaming computer you want, if you have money and are willing to " overkill " so you dont have to upgrade for a few years here is an example of my rig.

    Case:Thermaltake kandalf LCS
    Psu: Thermaltake armor 750
    Cpu:intel duo core 2 e6700 2.66 OC @ 3ghz
    memory: 4g 4x1 gb corsair xms2
    Cpu cooler:Tuniq tower 120
    GPU:8800 ultra
    Motherboard:asus atriker extreme

Basicly my rig.... with rebates NOW ... its less than 3000 easily and its HIGH end components, you wont need to upgrade for a few years... " could substitute a few things" Only thing i would change for my rig would be to get a quad core, not the 1000 dollar one, and simply OC it since the Tuniq tower is an AWESOME cooler."

CyberPowerPC is the top choice for desktop PCs & laptops made for gamers. Customize your dream PC or laptop, or choose from ready-to-play prebuilt options.

Edit: From what I hear, CyberPower is incredibly cheap, but the systems are usually Dead on Arrival, among other problems.

I've heard the same about CyberPower.
Also, worse things about ibuypower. I truely don't think I've ever read a positive comment about them.
The best bet would be either a well trusted company (alienware is one of them, but they have a VERY small selection), or build your own. I've built 3 different PC's, all around $1000, and each works perfectly fine. The chances of screwing something up when building it is minimal. Neither and of my friends nor I have fried any piece.
If you're considering building your own, check out newegg.com. Tigerdirect also offers lots of parts, but I have heard quite a few negative comments about them as well.

Tigerdirect is a good online store, but it usually costs more than newegg, and either way you should cross reference with pricegrabber to see if your getting the best deal anyway.

Regardless of what browser or flash plugin you have, FFR will run laggy on Vista. Flash just isn't updated enough yet to deliver smooth performance with Vista. With all the hardware you have, if you go back to XP, you won't have any problems.

Alienware is overpriced. I wouldn't buy it.

I built mine back in May for around 800 dollars, I got:

Cedar Mill Pentium 4 Proc 3.2 ghz
Kingston DDR2800 1gb(2 512's run in dual channell) at 5-5-12(The 965 chipset requires that timing and voltage if I'm not mistaken)
          Intel DQ965 motherboard and chipset
nVidia 8800GTX 320mb DDR3 (pretty beastly, got it for 320 bucks, has DX10, runs everything seamlessly)
Some 600 watt powersupply that's cool too.

Hmm... Are you running vista? I think that will cause some lag... But another factor might be the number of applications that you're running at once. Use task manager and shut off programs that you don't need running-- you'd be surprised how many stupid programs a computer is running that it doesn't need.

Actually I never have any useless programs running. Maybe you're talking about Vista.

                  Vista isn't a program silly.

Regardless, Vista will not run FFR smoothly for now. That's pretty much the bottom line.

FFR isn't really consider gaming either. (Although for some it seems to be a lifestyle)

Lol, I know I was just saying that on my computer there never is useless programs running. And then I said "Maybe you're talking about Vista" because it's on Vistas that there is alot of useless programs running. I always think before I type.

Alienware has been discussed. It is by no means the BEST at anything except overpricing products, as well at being the best at offering the most limited options imaginable.

gabgabo, I doubt they were talking about Programs or Applications, but instead, Processes.
That should be the 2nd tab, next to Applications, in the Task Manager. It is a list of probably around 75 different processes running on your computer. Though, if you run a program/application and exit it, it will still be running in your processes. Both XP and Vista will be running tons of them, and many are not necessary for normal computer use, such as playing FFR/running a browser.

Also, as stated by Tps222 a billion times, no matter what you do on Vista, FFR with NOT run flawlessly. Chances are that it will remain this way for quite some time as well.

if you can find a better computer for GAMING please, reply

A terabyte isn't that rare currently, you can also get around 4 TB with the Dell XPS 720 H2C, with dual 8800 Ultras, and an overclocked core 2 extreme. It's about 8000 dollars, while that would be hitting over 10 grand with Alienware. The Dell offers 3.67 GHz while the Alienware is only 3.33 GHz.

                            Sad considering Dell owns Alienware.

And unless you're ripping a ton of Blu-Ray movies to your PC why on Earth would you need 4 TB.

EDIT: Just to get some exact numbers: The same specs, except the dell is overclocked to 3.46 instead of Alienware's 3.33.

                            Dell: $7,946
                            Alienware: $8,219

Way to get the numbers Snow.
Also, Alienware's drives start at 150, not 160.
And building your own computer with the same specs as Snow mentioned (including a nice moniter, all drives, computer case, etc etc everything) would cost around $5300.

Also, 4 TB's (4 1TB internal drives) cost the same as the processor. memry r cheep.

Turn off Aero (it's ****ty anyway.) and you'll be set for FFR in Vista.
