    Poll: Speed Preference.

Hello. I am Chellex. I am quite new to the whole keyboard dancing scene so I would like to open this poll.

What is your favorite speed and why?

Right now I am playing FFR in the R^3 engine at 1.5 speed although sometimes I feel like if I get used to 2.0 speed then I will be able to read the arrows better because of spacing. Coming from guitar hero is a bit challenging considering I am now using two hands but only using two fingers on each hand. Hyper Speed on GH was also very helpful. The only problem is when I switch my speed in FFR to 2.0 then my scores start dropping and I start missing arrows more often. Any solution?

Thanks in advance and happy smashing!

Try lower mods, you can try 1.5-2.0 don't rush things. Going from 1.5 to 2.0 is quite a big jump. I would suggest trying 1.6, 1.7 and so on.

      Personally I use 1.8. Thats about C540.

If you're not having problems hitting the arows on 1.5, but you are on 2.0, It's because you're having trouble reading the patterns. Maybe go up to 1.6 or 1.7 and play there untill you can easily read and respond to everything that comes up, and the arrows aren't bluring on you. Once you get comfortable there, bump up the speed multiplier again.

You know there's a poll option on thread creation right?

my speed is usually 1.85x or 1.9x. Sometimes I will go to 1.75x if I don't know what is happening to my fingers that day.

            2.4x or 2.2x on R^3.

yo what's the equivalent of X2 (Legacy) in R^3?

edit: also @OP just pick a speed and stick with it. Getting used to a faster speed is sometimes harder than just sticking with your own.

                Re: Poll: Speed Preferance.

2.2x Screencut (Roughly equivalent to 2.6x without) - A lot of this comes from me slowly bumping my speed mod up over the years, the majority of the files i play nowadays are 66+ so the density becomes much easier to read for me on this speed mod. I use a partial screencut in order to make my window size roughly the same as velo since R^3 window is much larger.

There is a pretty wide variety in preferred speed mods, and there are plenty of people who use one that is lower than the average so don't feel like you need to raise it. If you decide that you want to increase your speed mod, do it slowly (increments of .2 at most)

                  Re: Poll: Speed Preferance.

                  I use 2.7 on 60 FPS. Debating 2.8.

It's really just try to get to around 1.75 or so as the comfort zone and you'll be pretty golden save for the really fast charts.

But if you can do adjust to 60FPS. It makes it super easy to transfer between Stepmania and FFR visually, at least for me.

I havent spent enough time on R^3 to get a good setup. I usually do 2.0 with screencut

                        Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Seeing everyone's speedmod makes me feel slow. And the adjustment to 60FPS is a must. It makes it so much smoother. @XelNya thanks.

                          Re: Poll: Speed Preferance.

~2.3 to 3 is generally a nice area to play around on R^3. Even if you do poorly at first just stick with it. Personally I've found the best way to get used to a new speedmod is to simply wait until you're comfortable at your current speedmod then gradually increase it.

Though, I did this in steps of 1~2x until I reached my current favourite of 12x, that might not apply so much normally >.>

I went up by .3 when I switched from legacy to R^3 and use 2.8 now.

                              I use 1.6 speed, but that's just b/c I'm new.
                              And what are screen cuts?
