The land might fade with distance on a flat world. In actuality as you travel in one direction, tall landmarks seem to rise out of and dip back into the horizon.

What he's getting at, is that it really doesn't affect your life one way or another whether the Earth is round or flat, you'd still see it in the exact (or near exact) same way you do right now, as long as you're not an astronaut, or skydive, or ride airplanes, or ride in a hot air balloon, or climb tall mountains, or stand on skyscrapers.
