If the world was flat, they will never cross paths, because their paths are parallel.

if they both walk towards the north pole they would intersect at the north pole because they're both walking towards the same place



let the circle represent a theoretical 2d surface, red = north pole, green = person 1, blue = person 2. you say to both people "go to north pole" so they go. clearly they intersect despite it being a flatland. they don't have to be parallel
