I don't quite agree with it being glass or whatever, but it doesn't look like something that would naturally occur.

I'm going to have to go with the "DUNE!" comment. I'm sure I recall an image like this a good few years ago, and thought "Martian worms!". It still strikes me as being that. The immediate answer to "What would it eat?" would be "Whatever it wants! It's fricking huge!"

As for the "glass" thing, I don't quite follow where that came from. I can only assume it's because it's supposed to be a see-through tube.

That's my guess. Not a great one, but I know rather little in the disciplines of Geology and Biology.

Looks more like a sand dune funneled into a canyon.

The images could be real, but I bet its nothing more than some land formation. I think we want to find something so bad on Mars whenever we see something strange we jump to conclusions. I'd like to think of life on Mars but I just don't see us finding proof at least anytime soon or if the proof even exists.

idk, the website resembles that of one of those sites that are run by a nerd in his mothers basement talking about how the govt implanted chips in our brains at birth and they are tracking us as we speak... i agree with arelik... FAKE

The site that was linked is from a guy named Richard Hoagland. He really is way out there, besides the hairbrained idea he obviously supports, though he himself didn't write it, he also believes that the US has placed tanks on Mars, Believes the Egyptians created hyroglyphics in the image of modern day warfare machinery; ei helicopters, tanks, etc., as well as other really bizarre comments/beliefs.

His atricles have been debunked many times including this one. The "Tunnel" is nothing more then an optical illusion and that it is infact a valley with, as others has stated dunes of sand. The shiney, glass like surface has been explained as a result of how digital imaging coloration works. As well as the wind not being able to produce this effect idea being shown as completely false with examples coming from other areas of Mars as well as being recreated on Earth; think of a beach and the rippling effect that can occur in the sand, just as one example.

I personally think people should read everything his site has to offer. But seriously use it for what it is, a good laugh.

HAHA!!! see nerd in moms basement... i knew it had to be complete bull... i mean, all these years of different expeditions and telescopic scans and we COMPLETELY miss a mile-long tube/tunnel/whatever??? yea freakin RIGHT... all it is is 1 part bull, mixed well with 2 parts propaganda, serve chilled on the rocks and serve to the public as new evidence...
