Immense, but I already sense manymany problems with this.

on a physics project I did earlier this year we experimented with gases under water, I found out that when gas is compressed under water that is greater than the density of the water itself the gas won't break the surface, my teacher found this to be correct with the laws of phycsics and confirmed that I was right.
You're going to have to be more specific with this. First of all, "under water that is greater than the density of the water itself"? Its density is greater than its density? I'm trying to figure out what you mean by this but can't come up with anything.

Second of all, what surface won't the gas break? The surface of the water?

And I don't even understand what you're trying to say the gas will do! Are you suggesting that it would sit at the bottom of the ocean? I've got a coupla physical laws myself that that would contradict.

In another trial we used co2 as the test subject, and as the co2 stayed underwater for a time of 3 monthes and a couple days the bubble was displaced but when we examined the water and the air inside the test surroundings it tested negative for high amounts of co2.
Huh? You're saying that the CO2 wouldn't dissolve? Yet a couple more physical laws that that violates. On top of that, marine biologists WELL understand that the ocean sinks VAST amounts of CO2 from the atmostphere, which DOES already affect marine wildlife.

were not sure where the co2 goes yet but we do know it dissipates
I think you just insinuated that it DOESN'T dissipate.

we know it is being converted to somthing we just don't know what it is yet
Dissipating and conversion are, for the purposes of this argument, pretty much mutually exclusive.

As for the holes I mentioned earlier, do you understand exactly how much energy it would require to compress amounts of air on the scale of Earth's entire atmosphere? And what would be required to sink that air to the bottom of the ocean?

        This plan is entirely unfeasible.

Unfortunatly there is no single soloution to global warming, we cannot just do one single thing which will fix a problem as large as this. What were trying to do, and im sure the UN is pushing for, albeit a bit late is that we significantly slow the effect. Agreements like the Kyoto protocall are exactly what we need to slow it down. On the other hand it is getting increasingly hard to slow it down with the uprising of india and china as global powers. Moreso than ever before. (Also anyone who hasnt seen Al Gores "An inconveniant Truth" should if you really are involved in this topic, it really is quite scary.)

Except that we need useful, applicable, and enforceable protocols. The Kyoto Protocol was hardly more than a political move.

Although global warming is scary, very scary in fact, I have a faith in humanity that we will do something about it...eventually...
All we can do as individuals is try our hardest to support green initiatives, like recycling and energy saving lightbulbs (both of which save money in the long run so it's silly to not do it anyway) and hope that our governments and big corporations help get us out of this mess

You should probably have made yourself clearer and told the story exactly how it happened. Even if you were to be right about the ability for CO2 and such being able to just sit at the bottom of the ocean in bubbles (as you implied) how would they get there? I think if we tried to gather up all of the gases we are sending into the atmosphere, compressed them, and then pushed them to the bottom of the ocean we would send up more gases then we are taking out. What this leads me to believe is that you want everyone to put balloons on their exhaust pipes and when they fill up you give them to the governemnt to put in a group and send them down to the bottom tied to a big rock. -Okay obviously thats now what you were saying but thats about improbable it is.

Do you think we'll ever run out of fossil fuels before the day after tommorow? I mean, we are wasting it much faster than it being produced. If the powers of the world realize that we are most definitely overusing our oh-so-precious fossil fuels, we could try to predict its running out.

I'm not saying that this will bring the warming to a halt, but if we try to figure out the future of fossil fuels, some may be motivated to (if not becoming over-energy-efficient) not use so much fossil fuel every single day.

Maybe my statement might be half-retarded, but you can't have fossil fuels forever, you know.

As for the fossil fuels, yes they will deplete. I'm pretty sure, as far as say oil goes, we have some sort of amount we have left written down ESTIMATE somewhere. Since it takes a lot to find where oil is there is no telling how much is exactly left and with new cars and a new generation of drivers oil will be going faster than ever. When the oil runs out, I'm hoping our civilization will have moved onto other less harmful fuels like eco-diesel or just a high voltage battery.

                          WHAT?!

Global warming has NOT influenced average temperatures to any significant degree.

Remember the times it was actually cool enough to sit outside in the afternoon eating watermelons? Yeah, that was last not summer.

For me. I used to watch TV OUTSIDE (fun and less expensive then a fan to cool down (don't assume I'm poor)) when it was cooler in the afternoons. Now, for me WINTERS ARE SO LATE TO COME!

about CO2 in the oceans... carbon dioxide is already accumulating naturally in the oceans due to its increased atmospheric concentration. Obviously, in water it acidifies, creating carbonic acid. The increase in carbonic acid concentration has been well documented and linked to various ecosystem disruptions.

Let me summarize the scientific consensus: Global warming exists, and by the most conservative aggregate estimates (of the IPCC) is attributable within 90% probability to human causes. A lot of people on the internet like to say that it's real, but not caused by humans. It is caused by humans. Don't bring up the ice age scare from the 70s, solar radiation variability, or martian temperatures. That's all been debunked far too many times to bear repeating.

                              On the topic of solutions:

Alternate energy sources must obviously be pursued in the long term. And in the short term, emissions caps must be set, and fuel efficiency standards raised.

Some have argued that the economic costs are too high to do this. Even if this is true (and that's a big if), the economic costs of NOT acting are far higher.

Finally, the point was raised earlier that human energy consumption is so great that fossil fuels must be relied upon. This may be true right now, but as more money is shifted around and technological innovations are made, I don't see why it's unfeasible that things like ethanol, wind, solar, or geothermal can be made more cost effective. Just a few days ago I read an article promoting a breakthrough in the production of ethanol from corn.
