Also archbishop, based on US Law (I'll assume that'a in question since you're quoting 'life liberty and the pursuit of happiness') you do NOT have the right to throw away your life, suicide is illegal.

The drug policy in America is ridiculous as it is. While I do believe most illegal drugs should stay illegal, I am for the legalization of marijuana. I just think there is a general ignorance when it comes to drugs in America as the most widely abused drugs are pharmaceuticals.

so many people at my school chug bottles of cough syrup, take DXM, xanax, oxycontin..the list goes on and on

Also, there is a drug called Salvia that's legal in my state, and it's far worse than marijuana in my opinion. The high is much shorter than a marijuana high, but much more potent because it is a psychadelic drug. When I'm high on marijuana I can actually control myself and I know what i'm doing...but salvia...this sh*t is nuts, and i have no clue why it's legal. It should definately be illegal if marijuana is. ^^

I find it discusting and absolutely anti-natural. By "anti-natural", I mean that the way the human body was "created" (over time, I'm not a creationist), it is not in the natural order of things that one should have to absorb a substance which modifies his/her motor and psycological abilities for any reason whatsoever. The human body was "desinged" in a way and I think it's the least of things to respect the thousands of years of evolution behind us.

Actually.... drugs may have aided our development. Can you prove this theory wrong?

First of all, US Law is a joke. Do you realize consensual fellatio between a 17 year old boy and 15 year old girl landed him in jail for 10 years! I think that proves how ridiculous it is. Secondly, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is what the country was SUPPOSE to provide, not that it provides any of those with the current political system. As to suicide being illegal, how do you prosecute? Only attempted suicide is illegal.

I choose not to consume alcohol or use drugs, and I think everyone should have that choice.

However, if any of my friends were to start doing those kinds of things, I would most likely end the relationship.

You basically proved his/her point.

If you don't die from the drug, it's injuring yourself. And it therefore IF ANYTHING would be considered attempted suicide, not suicide. >_>

Happiness isnt just about where you can bust in whoever and where, in fact it is.... but then again it isnt depend of who you are.

US government is f'ed up, I turned 18 and now icant date girls a year younger then me because its a law. In my own personal recerds im listed as a "abstant young man" so i dont see why its so bad if i date a 16 year old if im not going to have sex with her.

Back to the original point, drugs will kill you when your young but when your old it'll kill you anyway but its ok because your old anyway

There's a difference. Alcohol is a depressant, which lowers your reaction time, making it harder to drive. Marijuana is a hallucinogenic. If you're caught driving drunk, you're going to end up with a hefty fine and maybe jail. If you're caught driving high, most officers tend to overlook it.

I'm not talking about just marijuana. That's silly stuff.

MY VEIW IS: when you young your crazy to do drugs, but when your old (70- 80) your crazy not to do them.

And as far as I'm concerned, people can do whatever they want as long as they aren't hurting innocent people. As far as drugs go, many innocent people DO get hurt. Mostly because they are illegal and people will do whatever it takes to get their hands on it. From my own personal experience, drugs often turn some people into less desirable individuals that I do not wish to associate with. This applies to alcoholics as well. This is an example of a legal drug that can also **** up innocent people's lives. Just because something is legal doesn't mean a damn thing. ANYTHING in excess will **** you up.

I notice that this is legal and I think its kind of stupid. I don't understand why people would drop to the level to go out with the thought of getting so wasted they couldn’t even walk. It really is beyond me. I like drinking but with the intent of getting drunk I really just don’t see the point. I’m not against people who drink, more power to you but to just get drunk is stupid.

The reason why I’m so against getting drunk is because, my grandfather used to get so drunk that he would beat my grandmother all the time. I never really could agree with something like getting drunk for “fun” when I know you are very prone to doing something stupid..This is just how I look at things..

I would rather have marijuana legal and alcohol illegal than the other way around. Marijuana is safer and less addictive.

The question is: have you ever done that?

Not understanding it because you've never done it isn't going to convince anyone. I never understood why someone would want to get drunk until I tried it. Typically, one gets drunk for the first time as a form of experimentation (I wonder what it'll feel like if I have some more...) and then they discover that they enjoy the experience.
