Did any AQ members ever cross through Iraq? Sorry, but I was a rebellious 5th grader when the war started.

So basically we're here because we said something that wasn't accepted, so we invaded on another topic, which led to a dead end, so now we've practically taken control of Iraq. So much for democracy.

                Re: Saddam's Execution

I sense some confusion with some of you. Saddam Hussein was hung for attempting a mass genocide of the Shia branch of Muslim. That means it was about to be the holocaust all over again, except this time within one country, and his thing happened in Iraq.

Osama bin Laden is the one who centered the attacks of 9/11 supposedly, and has not been captured.

Now, my personal opinion is that he deserved it. If there are any Jewish people here (I'm not Jewish myself) then you know how it hurts to think of that torture that your ancestor's had to take. Now, imagine that with more modern torture devices, with a lesser group of people, but not by much. That is what Saddam Hussein began in Iraq.

All those Shia Muslims aren't going to be in pain anymore. The people who support Saddam in Iraq and whatever are at war with us anyway, so all we did is help end the terror in Iraq, and give our enemies a bigger reason to fight us. And when they do, and we whoop em to heck, then this terror will finally be over, right?

                    Afrobean, don't be so naive.

Should we not prosecute a serial killer because nobody witnessed his crime first hand? That is what evidence is for.

The fact is, Saddam was a terrible man who mastermineded horrible atrocities.
He was convicted of his war crimes by a court of Iraqis.

What are you trying to say? Prosecution of killers is good. Prosecution of anyone who commits any crime is good. I'm just against the death penalty, especially when it could be a means to martyrdom for the followers of the one being killed.

Which is pretty much what I said with weasel words tacked on at the begining to show that you don't approve of his actions.

an international court probably would have pleased the rest of the world but then it would have been a larger hassle and a longer time for the hearing to finish.

trying him in the iraqi court was a farce however, even if it was quick, although I suppose when you know your going to execute him before the trial begins you might as well get it over and done with quickly eh.

                                [QUOTE=Afrobean;1054591]

I don't see why people are so happy about him being executed. What has he done that you have ever seen first hand? He could be a made up person and you'd never even know, so why care about it? Yeah, sure, I'm sure that he really is a real person and that he really did terrible things, but I just don't see how people can care when it doesn't affect them. I mean, I guess you could have a relative or friend in Iraq, but the US invaded Iraq, not the other way around. We instigated the fight.
                                [end quote]

it doesnt matter who instigated the fight, it all started years and years, and yeras ago before pretty much all of us were born, and Saddam began his reign of terror. People often forget what he was charged for BEFORE the 9/11

                                mass murder

                                genocide

he ORDERED THE MURDER of over 180 shiite muslims in i believe 1983 (not sure the exact year, but ik early 1980's)

to me, that's good enough to instigate a fight to get him out of power....

do i support the war, hell no
we got him out years ago.....its time we get the heck out of there before we instigate WWIII.

but, to oblige to the post's title, no i do not support the death penalty...

only because i believe rotting in jail for years is a much more grueling punishment that a man of his wickedness deserved.
