Laharl...i think you pointed out that life IS rather insignificant just there, even moreso if you were to take into consideration this thread**, and that we are just one of an infinite amount species doing pretty much the exact same thing with our existance. To me it really brings about the whole "purpose to life" aspect.

Yes, I remember when I read the gunslinger, that page really got me thinking. Although, the idea of multiple universes in the first place was based on the idea that electrons move so fast that they can be in two separate places at the same time, thus somehow creating more than one universe. These theories have all been disproven, but are interesting nonetheless. Keep reading The Dark Tower series, the ending of the 7th book will drop your jaw for weeks! To answer your question, no we can never know but according to physics and the basis from which the idea was thought up in the first place, it is not possible.
okay heres my two sense.
guido says im stupid but im gonan be smart here.
think about it for a second. universe is everything. how can there be to everythings?! thats like having two holes. you know? two haves make a whole, but two wholes makes two wholes. thats fvcked up.

1. the totality of known or supposed objects and phenomena throughout space; the cosmos; macrocosm.
It all depends on the definition, this and the one I posted before make it possible for their to be other universes. This one is from www.dictionary.com
It doesnt matter what it means, just because people named it something that implies that there is only one doesnt mean that they werent wrong to name it that. It was just within their comprehension.

Wow, you don't get it all.
I'm tired right, now, so I'll post an actual thought-out response after school.
It is possible that there could be multiple universes that surround or solar system the thing is science has stated that there is an asteroid belt at the "end of our universe" so they say but can we know what’s beyond that? And if science has found the asteroid belt how come they can't go further? Could it be that there maybe something that we are afraid to know? I guess there are something’s we were never meant to know about the way the universe is built around us and exactly how many “universes” there are.
They have telescopes that refract light to far beyond the asteroid belt. We cant see anything in 'present' time however, since these great distances bound far beyond the limit to which speed can travel , but we CAN see them regardless.
If we can discover certain eight and ninth period elements, it might be possible to travel faster than the speed of light. Supposedly, some electrons in those elements have been predicted to have speeds faster than light. However, we cannot say this is true as none of the eight and ninth period elements have been discovered. =[

(i obviously forgot 'of light'). Im not sure how an electron would go about being faster then the speed of light, considering it is relative...but im not quite educated on that subject. I believe gamma radiation can go through things because it is considered massless, but im assuming that with lack of mass it would be easier to move and accelerate.
