I agree with what this person's sarcasm implies.

Yes, wars and other atrocities have been committed in the name of religion, but it's no different than, say, government. And dare I say that both religion and government have just as many redeeming qualities as they do faults?

Ah. I guess I read and interpretted the passage wrong then. (Thought it dealt with not laying with the wife and masturbating in private. I see the word 'laying' now.)

However, I do have another side argument. If I remember right, from when I used to go to church, God forbade(?) unpure thoughts. Such as being with a woman, and imagining another woman. Meaning it would be a sin to have images of another woman in your head while masturbating. If you were not married, then it may be considered a sin to have any image of a woman in your head while masturbating. But I'm not familiar with that much of the bible to know about adultery being extended to masturbation.

Regardless, though, how often do you masturbate and not once think of a sexual situation or a person with whom you would enjoy being in a sexual situation? I'd wager never. And I'd win, which is why masturbation and lust (which, Telvanni, is one of the seven deadly sins) are quite intimately connected.

@Froston: Oh, come on, like nothing she did was based on religion. Like she was never a missionary. Like religion wasn't a prime cause of her doing what she did. Please. And on top of that, she's only a drop in the bucket of evidence that religion helps people. To systematically disparage all religion as bad is nothing but dishonest.
