    What FFR did for me.

When I came to this site, I was still the type of person who went to chat rooms to meet girls, and fell for it when people sent me pictures of supermodels and asked me to cyber. I used to think that people took poetry seriously. I was the same grammatical atrocity on the web that makes me hit 'block' in disgust to this day. The skills I lacked in internet socialization were analogous to my real social inadequacies.

It is entirely the work of this site that led me to be a more social, charismatic, and intelligible person. This community taught me how to be funny, how to hold the interest of another person, and enjoy a purely intellectual relationship. I'm sure there are many communities, such as this one, that exist subtly somewhere on the web, but none could have possibly shaped my person as agreeably as this one.

Thank you to everyone I've met, and idolized, and grown metaphysically with. This family called FFR is a real psychological wonder.

Hey when did you get back from wherever you went? I thought you were returning like earlier.

I don't think that this community affected me very much until I went to the California Convene. Putting a face AND a personality behind some of these people really enlightens the mind.

You know, I'm with Alain here. I never was one of those people who ever did the whole "lol" and "u r dum" type grammatical junk, but I was a social mess. I learned how to socialize with people through the internet and my life outside the interweb has improved.

        Yay for social misfits.

RE: What FFR did for me.

I got back about 2 months ago, and I was in the frame of mind that I should move on from the internet, but I recently decided that, although I don't need the internet as a social outlet anymore, I owe so much to the people who've been my friends here the past 2-4 years and I should give back the the community that gave to me.

I intend to get back into TWG also. My time is more limited, but I can make room. It keeps me sharp.

I don't think I have ever used the term 'lol' without quotes around it or in a sarcastic content.
I use XD a lot though, but never 'lol'. I don't know why. The whole laugh out loud thing never made sense to me. For my friends, lol = yes I'm still here but have nothing to say. It's really sad.

FFR has been a place for me to have an intelligent discussion every now and then.

Amazing what the interweb can do to you right? ^_^

I'm not above dropping an lol bomb here or there but I remember when i first started using computers around the time i was 11 and it took me literally about half an hour to write a couple of paragraphs.

Now I can write pages and pages very quickly. I also use capitalization and punctuation(sp?) which is more than i can say for a lot of people in my age group.

RE: What FFR did for me.

FFR changed me a lot too. I was in pretty bad shape when I first came to this site. I had a lot of anger that had to be let out, and I used that and was really mean/flamed people in the chat. Not like they didn't deserve it, looking back on it now...>_>. The only people that were nice to me (I think) were afraid of me. I have a lot of friends on this website, and i'm pretty sure that when i'm older i'll never forget this place. I'm looking forward to growing older and seeing if this site is still up, I know i'll be devastated if it's not. It would be awesome that once I was married and done with college and stuff, FFR was still here. Although I have really bad study habits because of this place, it's helped me in other ways and I owe a lot to the people on it. I'm always changing.

Lainy, welcome back man. To be honest with you, I don't think I ever posted enough for the conversation that takes place in this community to really affect me. However, I read a lot more than I post, and I have a great deal of respect for many people on this site. I also can understand the whole socially awkward thing...In fact I had some of my earlier aim conversations (5-6 years ago) saved until about 4 months ago. Man. I'm not sure who I should attribute the change to, but somebody definitely deserves to be thanked. And since FFR certainly didn't hurt my growth, and almost certainly helped in ways I haven't realized: Thank you FFR.

I wish I could hug you all.
