I don't think that makes any sense at all, how do you know when you are going to wake up? You could be having a dream and be woken up in the middle of the night by some random noise outside, like a car crash or something. Your body doesn't know that the noise will occur, so it can't start the dream 5 min before something that it doesn't know is going to happen. The supernatural maybe, but probably not. You can't just say that the supernatural is the reason we dream right before we wake. The supernatural would have to control the whole night's sleep, not just the 5min before waking part. The sleep cycle idea makes more sense, but I still don't think that has to do with what you're talking about.

      Bump'd.

Most of my dreams are "lucid dreams". I know that I am dreaming, and I always try to fly or like spit fire because I realize it's a dream but it never works. And to the dreams that incoporate things that are going on in real life around you, I once had a dream that someone was stabbing me around my nose, but I woke up soon after and realized it was just my mom touching my face because she had came home from work late that night but I was already asleep.

      Whoa run on sentence.

People who can lucid dream rock. I wish I could do it. I really don't remember my dreams anymore, but I never remember a dream of me dying or falling, which is weird according to my friends, as they say they have all had them.

Guido, you would be a sucky refugee

Tps I couldn't agree more with you. I am completely jealous of people who can/do lucid dream. I know that personally I have had maybe one or two lucid dreams, but I'm pretty sure being aware that I was dreaming just made me wake up. How unsatisfying. Anyway, dreaming is good sh*t. I wish I did more of it but unfortunetly I am a very deep sleeper myself, and concurring with someone's post I read not too long ago, I think that when you recall dreams when you wake up, it is because you were not totally asleep, or in a lighter sleep. Also I guess I can use that to answer the question at hand. Perhaps most people wake up during the best part of the dream is because; 1 they are in a lighter sleep, and 2 getting subconciously excited (or aroused) from a good part of a dream, forces them to wake up. Who knows for sure. I'd like to find out more about it if anyone finds any websites of experiments involving dreams and what not, let me know. Just as a side note, I've also heard that some people actually can have up to 200 dreams an average night of sleep, because they are infact accelerated, but I'm not certain on this idea.

People have many sleep cycles as they sleep at night. During the first few, there are usually no dreams. As you sleep longer and longer, the dreams are "imprinted" into your short term memory. As your body begins to wake up, it recognizes the last dream you had and erases the others from your short term memory. You will usually only remember the last dream you have at night.

There are exeptions to this, however, for example; not too long ago I woke up remembering three dreams I had that night.

There are also situations where you dream that you are having a dream. (The dream in a dream Idea) When this happens, the brain keeps a dream going after the sleep cycle has ended. The old dream is incorporated with the new dream, usually because you dream of yourself falling asleep. When this happens, your brain usually denies this double dream from being imprinted into your short term memory. As I stated above, there may be exeptions to this.

There are other dreams that I don't feel like getting into, such as "sleep walking".

"Sleep walking" occurs when your brain relates a dream to an everyday activity and the body responds as if it were the natural thing to do. For example, Back when I was Five years old, I went sleep walking. I walked down the stairs into the main living room where I asked my mom when dinner was going to be ready. It was 11:30'ish PM. When I was Five, I would always take a nap before going downstairs for dinner. Apparently, when I went to bed that night, I had a dream about going downstairs for dinner, which is when my body "realized" that it was time for me to go downstairs for the daily routine.

There are many other variations of dreams, which I don't feel like going into.

To get slightly off topic (if this is ), I dreamt that I was shot in the head three times, and I didn't die. But I should've, instead I just got right back up. In another dream, I knew I died, I could see myself lying on the ground, but I wasn't looking at myself, if that makes sense. I heard that when you die in a dream, your mind believes it and your susposedly susposed to die in real life.

I was wondering if there was a website that could give me even a slightly accurate interpretation of what my dreams might mean, since dreams are triggered by something subconsiously, most of the time.

I have had some pretty strange dreams, and I just want to know what might of made me dream them.

If you keep a notebook by your bed and write DREAMS on it in big red letters... or put something on your ceiling, when you wake up, you'll most likely remember to record it... and you can get into a habit of remembering your dreams.

I believe that's the first step towards Lucid dreaming.

I have Lucid dreams quite often... most of the dreams I remember are Lucid dreams... obviously I can't really tell you what the rest are cause I don't remember.

I took a dream log once for a long time... I started off with maybe 1 dream every week... by the end of it I was remembering at least 5 dreams out of every week. It can be very interesting.

However, if you quit logging, you'll start forgetting them again very quickly. You have to remember to remember the dream... and it can be hard without a reminder.

I can't stand it when I do stuff like wake up and get ready for school... then wake up in real life and realize I'm late.

Okay, maybe it's because if you haven't experienced the best part of your dream in real life then your body cannot keep itself in the dream because it doesn't know how to show it. I can't find the right word to use to explain it.

A lot of times, I have falling dreams. From what I have heard, most people wake up just before they hit the ground. Well I normally hit the ground and pretty much jump out of my bed. One timeIi was asleep in a chair when I did this. My dog was next to me and it tried to bite me when I jumped

I used to have those falling type dreams when i was younger. I was dead afraid of heights back then, but now i'm not, so maybe that has something to do with it. I'd always be climbing a very tall ladder or high rope, and then it would start swinging around for some reason, then i'd fall for 20 seconds or so and like you said, wake up a second before i hit the ground. What's weird is when i woke up from them, i'd always have a feeling in my stomach like i had fallen from a height. Interesting.

On the subject of lucid dreams, i did have a dream like that once that i remember, but usually when i'm dreaming and think "hey, wait, this isn't real, i'm just asleep" i just wake up.

I had a lucid dream once. I was being chased by a dog that wanted to tear me apart. Much like some of you folks. Anyway, this dog was chasing me and I couldn't run away fast enough. I turned around to stare at my own death. It was approaching at a frightening pace, it was moving too fast. The dog wasn't running it was rolling on wheels?! The dog had wheelchair type wheels instead of legs! HUH...,I thought to my self. I soon realinzed that I was asleep because this clearly was impossible. The only thing I could think to do was jump up, but this jump was superhuman. Of coarse this is a dream, I laughed. Suspended in the air much like a rock doesn't. The rolling chair dog was angry with me for escaping it's torture, Barking and snareling at me with rage, razor sharp fangs exposed with acid drool falling sickingly onto the ground. I thought to myself, "How do I know his drool is acid?", no matter. I was god now and this abomination would leave my sight immedeately. I raised my hand towards the foul beast and lightning arced the distance between us. It was writhing in pain, cooking to death, and I enjoyed it. Very, very, much. Just as I began to think about all the other cool less violent things I could be doing I woke up.

I really don't know why we have to f* ken wake up at the best part of our dreams but I hate it.

Man I was so depressed after that. I was a GOD for a good 30 seconds it felt like. I Had the power and imagination to do ANYTHING. I could have explored the universe, traveled in time, destroyed the world. Now I am nothing and I remain nothing. A worthless, anonomous dung heap.

It's probably a good thing I don't have super powers. That would definitely be bad for most everyon other than me.
I am not allowed to be happy for more than a half an hour. Otherwise strange things can happen.

I try that but it never works.

PS: All my dreams are lucid dreams, pretty much. Every since I learned to not be scared of things (there was this show that freaked me out and gave me nightmares, then I realized it's all in my head and I could control it so I stopped being afraid) I've been able to control my dreams. I never really take advantage of this, but it turns out that in all my dreams I never die because I always pull a sword out of nowhere and kill the murderer person of the nightmare.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

                                Re: Dreaming

awww... everyone can somehow lucid dream...
I can't, mind you. My dreams are like movies: sometimes I see different camera angles of myself and not realize it
Actually, when I dream I accept the reality of it. If I'm trapped in a glass-filled room with a murderous flying chicken with a sword, then so be it. I never manage to question the dream until I wake up. Then I realize how horribly stupid that was...
Perhaps dreams are the way that the brain sorts out information that happened... kind of like your computer's defragmentation program. although that doesn't seem to explain why I had that recurring green bell pepper dream...
There was also this dream that I had, where my friends were going to go and play capture the flag... in Newfoundland... so I ask if I can come along. Not too sure what happened afterwards cuz i woke up.
                                Maybe I'm just really weird.
