    Dreaming

ok, i know i have acted stupid on this forum before but this is a serious question. no this isnt a "are dreams windows to the future" thread.
Have you ever noticed that while having a dream you always seem to wake at the best part of the dream. is there a chemical that your body releases? or is it just bad luck or something. i would really like to know.
why must the world of DDR be looked upon as so ghay from people that have never played it?

    RE: Dreaming

You probably tend to think you always wake up at the exciting part of a dream because that’s when you remember your dream. Remember you dream every time you sleep even if you don't remember it.

That is unless you remember all your dreams...I don't remember mine unless I think about them right after I wake up, which usually only happens if something exciting in my dream just happened, and then I can usually remember what just happened; not much before. I also remember reading that you dream at a much faster rate then thing would happen, although I don’t remember how fast, which would mean that people dream of many things, including exciting things, while they sleep.

      RE: Dreaming

Ok, heres what I think, but it might be confusing.

It seems like you wake up at the best part because that is when you are about to wake up. You start to hear things from the real world and things become more clear. For example, you are about to wake up, and on TV there is a Arnold Schwartzinater(sp) Movie on. You start to dream about the things in the movie, like the gun fights or whatever. But since you are hearing the things in the real world, you start to wake up.

I have no idea if that made any sense to anyone besides me, but thats what I think. Hope I helped you.

Ever whispered in someones ear when they sleep? That's basically what paintballer was trying to say. It works, but i'm not sure why.

He was talking about, if you hear something while you’re dreaming, you often incorporate what you hear into your dream as something in your dream making that sound. Like when Stewie's parents were having sex, Stewie dreamt that he was on a rocking chair rocking back and forth.

                RE: Re: RE: Dreaming

I think sometimes you wake up at the best part of a dream becasue it is something you haven't experienced yet. Like when ever you have a dream where you die you ususally wake up right before you die because you don't know what its going to be like or how its going to feel.

I\'m just afraid it will hurt like (hurt like) hell

                I\'m not afraid of screaming
and I\'m not afraid of crying
                I\'m just afraid of forgetting
And I am afraid of dyin

                      RE: Re: RE: Dreaming

As i learned in health class, Dreams only last about 5 minutes...which is about 5 minutes before you wake up. Naturally, when you dream, you are about to wake up. Usually, you dream about 5 minutes before you wake up the natural way; alarm clock, ur body says to wake up, etc. I sometimes think that supernatural causes make you dream before you wake up under all circumstances...like...its as if your body knows you're about to wake up by someone waking u up, a friend waking u up, etc...so u have a dream right before. anyway. yeah. i learned that your dreams are only like 5 or less minutes long which is why you remember them so well. Ppl usually think they have an all-night dream. not true. the rest of the time, when ur not dreaming, your body is an in almost-dead state. your REM (rapid-eye-movement, which is the number of times ur eyes move side to side in ur sleep) increases rapidly as your sleep becomes deeper. So basically, you're almost dead for up to 7 or 8 hours. awkward, but true. My teacher once referred to sleeping as being stoned: you enjoy it so much that you dont want to wake up, just as if you enjoy being stoned so much u dont want to be un-stoned, or u want to do it again lol. anyway, yeah, thats my 2 cents.

I personally like those dreams where u randomly fall of a random object to your death or to the ground of some sort....and when u hit the ground, your body has a reflex reaction and your body physically shakes as if it came in contact with the ground. those are kewl.

Also...sometimes dreams are only like "flashes" of events. like you only see like 4 seconds of a part of a multiple dream sequence. except some other parts u see like up to a minute of it. thats why sometimes when you try to explain a dream to someone, you never quite know what u were doing in that locatoin or why or how you got there.

its not 5 mins before you wake up, its 5 minutes near the end of ever sleep cycle... sleep ccles last 45 minues, therefore, many a dream

yet, you still kinda wake up. you wake up from your "sleep cycle," even if that means not physically opening your eyes...which is sometimes why u see different dreams in one night, ur right.

I'd like to bring up the topic of "lucid dreaming".
I haven't been to these forums in a VERY long time so I don't know how familiar any of you are with this topic. Anyway, as a quick refresher, lucid dreaming is just a term for being fully aware that you're dreaming and being completely in control of the dream.
I had one of those dreams once, and it sparked my interest in dreaming. I was able to control my environment, but was unable to control the people around me. It was fairly simply to control where I wanted to be, and who was around me, but the people around me never moved. Unfortunately, I woke up before I could do any more "testing", and I've yet to have another dream quite like that.

I'd also like to add that I've died in my dream before. I was killed by zerg-like aliens at the mall, and instead of being in first person, the point of view went into third person and I watched my body lay there until I woke up. Bizarre indeed.

I did that, too, kind of. I was escaping a concentration camp with some Jews when some officer caught us. We were inside a building and we all hit the deck, but he burst through the door, looked to his right (right at me), and fired his pistol. I felt the bullet enter my head and I knew I was dead, but I remained in first-person. I could hear the screaming and shooting that was going on, but I couldn't see anything or move (what with being dead and all).
