    Re: Computer Help

You know how to use a forum, right?
Anyway, this is an issue that has been brought to the attention of the administrators, and they will fix it soon. Try using a standalone. The guide to using a standalone can be found here.

You take your Vista OS disk and put it in the CD/DVD drive. Boot up your computer and select to boot via CD, or just hit any hit to make your Vista OS disk load.

All you have to do is go through the recovery options.
It will rewrite your registry file to something valid enough to load.

Do exactly as subin posted. Solution steps 1-3. If you can get it booted after that run sfc scan. To do that, click start type cmd in the search bar, right click command prompt "run as admin" After the prompt opens type in SFC /scannow

You will also want to run chkdsk /r

If you do not have a Vista disc, press f5/f8 before vista would normally boot and choose "repair my computer" Follow the prompts, DO NOT do a factory restore or image restore. That could delete data.

If you cant boot at all then you need to retrieve data then reload OS. If you can't retrieve data and reload OS chances are the HDD is failiing. There is a small chance it could be a stick of ram. More than likely it is just a software issue.
