General rule of thumb is if you do go AMD NEVER get an NVidea card, however if you go Intel you can go either or as long as the mobo supports all the features your video card has. Also AMD is kinda shitty these days and I'd only ever use it if I needed to do some large caluclations, video editing, or rendering since AMD only tops Intel at large calculations.
thanks for the input. i went with price with the AMD. after testing out some games with this setup complete (minus the SLi) it performs great. so ill most likely just return the other card. maybe just hold on to it. not sure yet. either way im extremely happy with the build.

Probably the best thing you can do at this point. Honestly the only time I would ever SLI is if I needed to upgrade my video card, I'd just buy another one SLI compatable with the one I already have and save a bunch of money. Anyways enjoy your build.

The general rule is: If the board supports SLI, it supports CrossFire, but not the other way around. Sometimes AMD boards DO support SLI as well, though.

The first rule of building a computer: Always be sure to check that all of your parts are compatible with each other! Nothing worse than buying an 1156 board and accidentally shoving an 1155 CPU in there.

"That just will not do." was keywii's response as she lunged for the scissors, pulled the blades apart, and clamped them down on the base of foil's shaft. Blood start gushing out of the wound where his penis used to be.
        "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Yelled Foil in horror.
"Don't worry. I'm a wizard" uttered Keywii. And with that, Foil's penis grew back.

So when are you OC'ing it and how much are you pushing for?

id love to hit 4ghz. my processor is bottlenecking me from any performance boost atm (not that there isnt anything it cant run.. game wise). im still running it at stock speed. although i have got it to 3.4 with stock cooling/default voltage and saw some decent performance boosts. id love to get some better cooling on it and see what i can push it to.

Might I suggest MSi Afterburner for your GPU.

I'm jealous of the dual cards~ I have 4GB of RAM atm, but upgrading it is next on my list (nothing of mine really NEEDS upgraded at the moment, so any upgrades would just be for funsies/penis envy). Beyond that, I want dual cards--My graphics card now should last several years, but I still look forward to utilizing crossfire.

Very interesting, I wonder what it can't run.

                      Nice build.
Those AMD chips have a tendency to OC well as long as you cool them well enough so you should be able to hit 4GHz pretty easily. A decent direct touch heatpipe air cooler should be able to get you to 4-ish.

To be honest I haven't heard great things about Rosewill PSUs. I tend to stick to the "higher end" PSU brands (heh)

And just so people know as it wasn't really confirmed earlier, that motherboard does NOT support SLI.

Technically it doesn't conform to CrossfireX either as the second PCIe 16x slot is a 4x electrical slot. Although you may be able to run CrossfireX with mixed results.

Whoops. 16x, 4x, does actually conform to CrossfireX although I think there might be a slight bottleneck.

thanks for the info, much appreciated! my next purchase will be some better cooling for sure. then i will mess around with OC'ing this beast. will post results when finished
