    Re: New MacBook Pro

When your younger siblings use the computer frequently and end up getting viruses, you'll wish you had the money for a mac. Overpriced? Definitely. No viruses when a 10 year old uses your computer and incessantly? Priceless.

How do you even manage to get viruses? I don't even know what I'd have to do if I wanted to do it on purpose.

Maybe turn off all firewalls and protection software and download and install every exe I come to on porn sites.

Buy a used $100 rig on Craigslist, give them that to play with. When they break it, tell them "Well, maybe you ought to take care of your belongings."

            Linux > Mac.

Why? It the same thing (mac is based on unix as well), but linux is FREE. Comes in many flavors, too.
            Opensuse, Ubuntu, fedora...etc.

And the google droid operating sytem? That's linux as well.

But I'm pretty sure you can **** up a mac/linux pc as much as you can a windows PC. But if you set user rights on any of those you'll solve your virus problems. Give them limited accounts that can't install/uninstall anything.

I got a MacBook Pro as a surprise gift. I'm content with it. Does this mean I'm a hipster loser that knows nothing about computers?

No that means your parents (or whoever gave it to you) are rich and can afford nice things.

You're only a loser if you buy it yourself.

Okay good, I'm safe. I got it as an early graduation gift from my Uncle because they moved to a different state and wouldn't be here to give it to me when I graduate.

It's not the OS we're talking about. It's the computer's they sell. They just don't give out the rights to allow other companies to have their PCs pre-installed with OS X. If I had to choose between Windows and OS X, and software compatibility wasn't an issue, I'd choose OS X in a heartbeat. I'm pretty sure the markup Apple uses is FAR above 10%. Apple makes good stuff they just do dirty business. And believe me Izzy I know a guy who's family can totally **** up a Windows 7 installation in a week flat.

I guess it's true that you can mess up the win 7 install pretty fast, but I don't think I could do it from viruses. The registry just has pathetic stability issues.

I keep a registry backup of a clean install just in case something really goes bad. I just swap out my registry to the clean one and delete all my software and reinstall. I haven't had to do that yet but I'm a lot of people could benefit from doing that. It's basically a manually way of doing a system restore.

Most people I know get Macs to stick it to Microsoft. Problem is... Bill Gates owns 40% of Macintosh.

Still getting the laptop cause yes, unlike you guys, I can afford nice things on my own.

Piss off, I'm better than you. Deal with it.

Fix'd. Enjoy your overpriced computer you retard. A loan doesn't mean you can afford it on your own and your attitude just makes you look like a ****ing loser lol. You're not impressing anyone and I expected better from you TBH (Not the fact you're buying a Mac but your attitude entirely).

I don't know but within a week Google searches redirected to some shifty 3rd party search and the computer would randomly shut off. Anyway what I do with my registry is restoring my latest backup right before installing an application, then backing it up after installing that application. I do the same for updates too. My latest format is coming up to the two year mark and only now do I need to reformat it.
