Levels 4 and 8 are examples of using the picture itself to lead you to the answer. It is not bat deduction if you actually observe it and the picture name (I'm serious, even Rebound and pmon were able to cut through them fast, same with cry4eternity). Some levels in this are likely to make you rage and facepalm when you figure out how simple some of the levels actually are, hence the name "notRAGEon" (ESPECIALLY level 17, that one is really easy to mess up haha)

And yes, pmon is correct that you shouldn't forget to put the level number in the picture name too if you decide to change it.

If something is simple only after you know the answer, you're doing it wrong imo. I could make a riddle that has no hints in the source and no picture and tell you it's "rage-inducingly easy" if you "took the time to observe it and see how simple it was." If there's nothing that stands out, it's a bad riddle.

And I solved level 8, which is why I am telling you it's a bad riddle, lol. You don't make riddles harder by making them devoid of hints and completely open-ended/ambiguous.

All you have is a set of cherries frozen in some ice cubes. That is not a riddle.

There are enough hints on 8 to make you solve it. My additional hints aren't even needed but they can help. I'd bet you would say that level 17 is devoid of hints yet pmon solved it in like 3 minutes easily with the clues I give in that level (and cry4eternity is stuck there).

Apparently I have to make everything 100% glaringly obvious even when it's already good enough. Level 8's picture tells you to observe the ice (shape) and then work from there. You shouldn't be cutting through these levels in like 2 minutes anyways, otherwise it's not even a challenge

The shape of the ice is a cube, and that should be sufficient. Anything past that is ambiguous bat deduction. Technically speaking, the hint doesn't even tell you to notice shape (just your forum hint). Otherwise there are countless things we could pay attention to regarding the ice. All would be just as valid because nothing stands out or is given direction.

Nobody's telling you to make hard riddles obvious. You just can't make a hard riddle hard by removing all hints for the sake of ambiguity. That's a bad riddle.

My puzzles require you to infer things (like level 4) and I make them reasonable. If you don't like level 8, then move on. You'll probably like things past level 13.

You can infer *anything* in the absence of evidence. That is the point. They are unreasonable deductions, especially so early on in the game.

Here's an example. Say this was my level.

The only hint you have is in the title and picture name. The title: "Fruit galore!" and the pic name "lemon12.jpg"

Now solve.

Rubix: If I could make a level out of that, it would be reflection.jpg or something with that hint (I'd include it in the source that time). It's really not hard to deduce. But I bet you're going to say something ridiculous and completely farfetched like "symmetry" or "mirror" or "heart.jpg" since one of the lemon reflections forms a heart shape. 8 is nothing like that.

Agreed. I make things reasonable with my levels (and I'm comparing this to notffron which made me deduce many unlikely things that actually turn out to work in the level, while my levels are more reasonable in my experiences).

Also flashpantss, you may need to rename the file again.

Just so you know, you're not making any good points. Even if you gave the answer to me, it's still not even remotely close to my level. Your level is completely different from level 8 and is totally unreasonable and can't be compared at all.

Your hint of fruit galore could mean that there's more than one type of fruit on the reflective table, just not in the first picture. This could mean "oranges12.jpg" or something. Then, you have the "trap level" style where the answer is actually fruitgalore12.jpg or lemons.jpg (removing the 12). Now, if I actually made a level with that picture, I'd make it something reasonable like the trap style I demonstrated (which is what some of my levels are).

What you're doing is not what I do in any of my levels.

You can save any file on my site. Nobody that's gotten past level 11 has that problem.
