So I was at an arcade yesterday, and they had one of the big stacker machines. I tried it once and got to the major prize level (the final stack) and lost. I told myself I could beat it so I tried about 6 more times (getting on the major prize level 4 out of the 7) and lost, getting one column off every time.
If you've never seen/played the stacker, here's gameplay
I believe/heard that the game is actually rigged, as in the game plays like a slot machine, having a 1 in 600 chance of actually achieving the winning stack (so even if you had the most accurate button press on the major prize level, you can still lose). The owners/renters of the machine can also tweak the settings to make the winning ratio higher or lower.
Have you ever conquered the Stacker? Do you think it is rigged?
