    Screen Capture

Been browsing around the internet for a bit and can't seem to find something that suits my needs. If you look at the kbo gif in my sig, you'll see that the framerate of the scrolling notes is sorta choppy, I'm looking for a screen recorder that is capable of TRUE 60fps. The recorder I've been using has an input box where you can set its record rate to whatever you want, but it obviously doesn't actually record at that rate. So does anyone know of any really great quality programs out there that might be capable of this?

I'm pretty damn sure it has nothing to do with my pc specs, because I'm using my render machine to capture this (48 logical cores, gtx480).

I swear it is almost impossible to film your screen without lag because it needs to record it is raw video data which is enormous. I've heard that there is a way to install a smaller secondary half graphics card type thing that is made specifically for recording your screen. It is entirely separate from your card that is actually rendering your screen so there is no lag. I'm not sure what it is called but I'd look into it because it is really cheap, like 30 dollars maybe.

This. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to record at a true rate of 60fps if you take everything into account like Izzy said. What you have right now, to be honest, looks like it's as good as it's going to get, unless you bring out the big guns to maximize graphics settings and get the highest possible recording rate.

I'm not sure if I would go to the lengths to install new hardware for something as simple as this. Then again, I've got a very powerful graphics card, backed up by a very powerful set of processors, writing to a SSD...If that setup can't record at 60fps, you're probably right, and I'll need to pick up one of those cards, but for right now I'm blaming it on the program itself haha.

I always used Camtasia/Camstudio whatever it was called. It usually let me clock pretty decent FPS but with high filesize that I always had to cut down later.

Downloaded Camtasia just now, I'm at work so I'm only on an octocore machine, looks like it's not able to record anywhere past ~35fps in a 500x500 area.

**Edit: Oh hell. This doesn't hyperthread.

Fraps is garbage. Probably the worst one out of the bunch.

Other than that I am not aware of any other screenrecorders. :<

If you're looking for something to spend money, buy a capture card. I'm sure you want something that is free though.

Fraps for me can record sc2 realtime replays in a 800x600 window at 45 fps with only a few drops to 40. Looks pretty smooth when i upload them to youtube.

Only have a 9800 gtx with 512 mb of ram.

It's pretty specific that I need to be able to record in really high quality at 60fps though =(

fraps didn't even get much over 20fps for me.

what operating system are you using? If it is windows 7 you might be able to get a small gain in performance by turning off aero for the visual style of explorer since it is sending all gui rendering to the gpu instead of using the cpu. I still think you are going to need to get hardware specific to this kind of this if you want really high quality results with real time recording.
